@Brodybreaux25 I took these two in knowing I wasn't going to keep them long-term, but wanted to give them a fighting chance at life. They would have surely died otherwise. It was always my plan to rehabilitate them until they were stable, then offer them for adoption. I'm going to be working...
@Tudatuda I'd keep an eye on it, but wouldn't worry too much about it unless it's happening regularly on a consistent basis! Just make sure he has access to plenty of properly gut-loaded and supplemented food items and let us know if he keep chowin' on turds!
@Tudatuda Haha, no problem! I understand with chameleon health issues it seems like when it rains, it pours! Then you're on high alert! Coprophagy (consumption of feces) is typical in animals like rabbits, but not chameleons. How often is he eating his poop, how often do you feed him, and are...
Are you sure that’s not a urate that adhered to his chest? Because it sure looks like one, and I highly doubt a growth of that size would appear overnight. Have you tried swabbing it lightly with a q-tip?
I hope this is okay that I'm posting this additional thread! I just posted an ad in "forums/for sale" for two young male panther chameleons I'm looking to permanently rehome. I was hoping that by posting on the main forum, I might grab the attention of someone who doesn't typically frequent the...
Hi all,
I have these two young, beautiful little male panther chameleons that are ready to be adopted out to their forever homes! I am offering each of these males for free, with the only cost paid by the adopter being shipping. I want to provide the disclaimer that both of these males have...
@NorCalAnthony Haha I actually had pondered what those zip-ties were used for and why they were spaced so evenly...D'OH! Boris measured juuuust over 6" (Isn't that right up there with the national average? Kidding!). Do you have Thor's STV length when you first received him? I'd love to know!
@NorCalAnthony Haha, well whether that’s abnormal or not, it certainly makes me feel better that we’re in the same boat on that one. I haven’t been measuring his length but now I’m curious and will start documenting that. Will also grab an STV measurement later today. What’s Thor at?
@NorCalAnthony Thor’s lookin’ miiighty fine! Those yellow eye turrets really pop! Just out of curiosity, how many times has he had a full-body shed so far? My guy’s only had one full body shed and I wasn’t sure if that was unusual for C. parsonii or not.
Hey all,
I know a lot of newbies (and oldies ;)) like to see chameleon growth logs just to have something to compare to the growth of their own chameleons, even though the rates of growth and development vary so much between individuals, so I thought I'd make this quick thread in which I...
So awesome, congrats! I’m sure you’re getting parsonii rearing down to a science at this point, but I’m assumimh your hands are still pretty full with those little nuggets! ;)
@Garrett He's really taken off this past month! Your guys are looking great too, I'm really diggin' the colors on that first male! How are your newest babies doing and how many did you hatch?
Yeah, looks like it could be a red bar Ambilobe or a Sambava! May I ask what type of issues he's experiencing? Just from first glance looks like he might have some MBD in his forearms.
Just thought I'd post a quick update on Boris the parson's growth over the past 2 months:
July 6th, 13.5 months old
August 3rd, 14.5 months old
@NorCalAnthony and @shawn_melanson, how are your males doin'?
I think he's beautiful and vibrant, and so much more than just his colors.
Either way, this is a lesson learned on your behalf. If you're aiming for a specific color combination or vibrancy, you're more likely to obtain this by selecting an older juvenile or adult animal. Typically by 6-7...
Wow, he's magnificent! So cool to see his color shift from tannish-green to a beautiful saturated turquoise color! Wonder if he'll maintain that coloration into adulthood? If so, he'll be one of the most stunning YLs I've ever seen. Looks like that boy's gonna have some impressive rostral...
