That likely means your cricket colony is too damp, or you are feeding too much fruit and veggies at one time. The only way to get the proper nutrients to your chameleon is through proper gutloading of the prey items. Squash, kale, collard greens, carrots, Apple, papaya, sweet potato are just a...
Haha same advice here but I'll add an extra tip...if it were any more crickets loose I'd cover the heater vent (assuming you're in an area requiring a furnace in winter) and put a heat mat in the middle of the room. Turn the lights out for a few hours and the crickets will migrate toward the...
it looks like the light are sitting on the outside of the glass? UVB cannot penetrate through glass, if you do in fact have a UVB bulb. Also jajeanpierre and melissab are absolutely right about handling. Especially at his young age, I would handle as little as possible (or not at all) until he...
As with any substrate, unless you are adding living organisms (springtails, isopods) it will harbour bacteria and make cleaning difficult. To each their own but over the years I've abandoned substrate with all my reptiles in favour of easy cleaning.
A lot of my females do this too. I think it has to do with the droplets being more visible while on the semi transparent screens. I've found that chameleons mostly recognize water by the light reflecting off it.
I put in a tiny amount of cat food. If I'm making say, an entire blender full (about a half gallon) the cat food only makes up about 1 tablespoon of it. Not enough to have adverse effects, just enough to supply protein and keep cannibalism down. I think the problem lies in feeding a staple of...
I had a very different response before I deleted it and posted this. We HAVE to stop these corporations from treating animals like this. what would it be like to sit in a cage while your bones turned brittle and fractured multiple times. We need suggestions...petitions, boycott, or...
I go a little crazy with gutloading but here is my recipe (which varies depending on what is available at the store.
DRY:
Sesame seeds
Blanched almonds
Sunflower seeds
Dried cranberries
Alfalfa
Bee pollen
Crested gecko diet
Spirulina
A very small amount of dry organic cat food ( I find this...
I give vitamin a for various eye problems as well but only give a small amount
I also give liquid vitamin a for various eye problems, but make sure you only give a very small amount, less than a drop on a feeder, and no more than a couple days in a row. Vitamin A, like a lot of vitamins and...
One reason (among many) that people use screen cages is because chameleons can act aggressively toward their own reflection. Could be he thinks there is another male constantly in his territory and he can't calm down.
Never run propane or kerosene heaters indoors. You and your pets will die of co2 poisoning. Do you have a gas or electric water heater? If gas, you can buy hot water bottles and place them in the cages for radiant heat. Otherwise an outdoor generator or battery powered heater are really your...
The reason he's staying there is because it's the only place he can feel safe and get his body temps up. Like the others above said, you need a ALOT more perches and plants if he's going to feel secure. Also I would avoid feeding too much of one thing to him and your feeders. For instance, if...
It may be best to give her some privacy for a day or so. She is definitely showing laying behaviour but 3 months is very young for her to be doing this. It is possible that she was over fed and kept very warm, or she may have been bred if she was kept with other juvenile males you never know...

A few things I can see from the picture:
Screen cages allow better ventilation and are preferred by the vast majority of Cham keepers to keep bacteria from growing and...
As with any animal they are opportunists and will eat almost anything small enough that moves when living in the wild. Witnessing them eat mammals and birds in nature doesn't mean they should, it just means that there likely wasn't a large amount insects available at the time. They never know...
Please don't take the chance with the cats. Even if they don't attack him (which they eventually will) the sight of them will be incredibly stressful for the chameleon, whether you think so or not. Also you'll definitely need a bigger all screen enclosure within a few months. You should be...
I tried (and failed) many times at consistently breeding crickets until I found a method that works very well for me. I'll buy 500-1000 large crickets for feeding and put them all in one tub. I leave them to gutload and hydrate for about a week, also giving them time to breed some. Then I...
My chams all go through phases with their personality. Often they will become a bit more aggressive if they are gravid, but they usually calm down again after laying. My males will change day to day, depending on their mood. I have one female at the moment who used to run onto my arm whenever...
These really are the best forums I've ever seen. Someone comes for help with a new chameleon, and by the end of the thread there are suggestions for everything from avian vets to areas in Saudi Arabia for catching native insects. jjeanpierre and the other experts here really take the time to...
There are many different signs of stress but the most common I see from my veiled chams are:
Flattening out, showing their bright colours (aggressive)
Making themselves thin, elongated, and turning on their perch so that their body looks more like a branch
(Threatened)
if they are very scared...
