    BSFL for ship cost

Hey all, my experiment breeding BSFL went a bit too well; I have more than my lizards (or chickens, or quail) can really eat. I can send you a bunch for shipping (say $10-15) cost if anyone wants some! PS- I also have a lot of isopods if you're looking for specific species.

    Chameleon keeps falling :(

Can you post some full body pics (especially side pictures!) of your dude? Falling is often associated with metabolic bone disease, which can often be visually conformed with symptoms like curved limbs or a bent casque. Also, it would be a good idea to fill out a husbandry form to make sure...

    Baby tax!! (Ambilobe)

Yeah, I can see that, sorry! No worries, don't wanna stab or scrape any babies

    Baby tax!! (Ambilobe)

Thanks! No, I've had a few, these are just the latest. I always forget to post pictures though 🙃

    Baby tax!! (Ambilobe)

Don't worry, it's not in the inside. Covering the top to provide dappled shade. That bay is on the closest plant to the top, so no worries about them climbing out either!

Nosy Faly Male Uninterested In Female

Yeah, sounds like my weirdo... More interested in seeing if he'd get some free range time than in the girl... 🙃 Good luck though, doesn't hurt to keep trying. Playdates whenever she's receptive; at least you know he's not going to harass her and stress her out

Nosy Faly Male Uninterested In Female

Honestly, some dudes just aren't into breeding, others can just take forever if they do at all... I'd given up on breeding my super friendly guy (ambilobe), never showed interest in receptive females, until he was nearly 5 years old. Also seems like my friendlier chams are less likely to show...

1 month old Panther Chameleon Diet

Vary what you're giving your flies for now (like different attractants in the enclosure), and that'll help some. To get him (and it does look like a boy, in case you're wondering!) to eat other things, it's easiest to train them to a cup or feeding area first. I put things the fruit flies like...

    Plantago lanceolata

Plantago sp. in general are fairly healthy, but it's always good to mix it up; in other words, don't use it exclusively. Add some carrots or squash and/or other healthy veg too, but should be fine to use. Variety is key!

    Panther Babies Just hatched!

Definitely put them back!!! Changes in temp and humidity can shrink wrap the remaining babies, making it difficult or impossible to hatch. I usually only open my egg containers every other day during hatching, or after all babies have hatched, and add a small spritz of water to account for...

    Panther Babies Just hatched!

Tis the season! Don't worry if not all the eggs hatch at once; it's not uncommon for part of a clutch to hatch, and the next cohort or two (even in the same container!) to take a week or two longer to start coming out. Congrats!

    Is she receptive?

NOT receptive, lol. Any black is a pretty good indicator that she is not in the mood

Is my chameleon close to hatching?

Sweating usually means it's close, but I've had them take a few weeks even after 🤔 The best/most consistent indicator I've seen is that the egg will shrink and become almost lumpy, like the sides have caves a bit and are resting on the baby cham. Patience is key, and the hardest to practice 😄😱

Is my chameleon close to hatching?

Your pics looked more like windowing to me (though I can't see them very well); are you sure there was a hole? If no hole and just windowing (nearly translucent portions of the egg), it could be another few weeks to few months. Even if there is a hole, I've had babies take a week from pipping to...

    Gutloading question

The freeze/thaw as needed works pretty well for me. However, I'd suggest sill giving them fresh, non frozen food regularly. The freezing can decrease some vitamins - thiamine especially - so you'd want to make sure it's not the sole food source for your colony.

Would a chameleon eat a orbee?

Ooh, I actually have a weirdo panther who DIGS through his substrate to find isopods... The first time he did it I freaked out, thinking he'd fallen to the bottom and something was wrong 🙃

    Precocious hatchling?!

Oops, totally forgot to mention species! They're panthers (Furcifer pardalis)- ambilobe if that matters. And yeah, I had my last batch of eggs hatch one final baby two weeks after everyone else, but she came out super tiny and only lived about 36 hours

    Precocious hatchling?!

So, because chameleons love to do weird things and freak us out, I check on all my eggs at least every two days. April 1 (of course 🙃), I find that a batch of eggs laid Nov 21 has a hatchling inside! As of yet no other eggs from that batch, or the one laid two days earlier and kept in the same...

Why does my 7 month male panther love eating dead leaves?

Maybe- my old dude loves going for the crunchiest ones!
