Well then, welcome to a fellow reefer! I was a regular poster on reefcentral for years, but got out of reefing when I moved away from the beach. Anyway, if you can hang with that crowd then you'll love this hobby and this forum, too.
Which podcast did you run?
That's awesome that he loved it! You may want to make it a regular part of his routine, especially around shedding time. I believe Andee was the one who suggested the shower idea to me in the first place (Giving credit where it's due).
I picked up a fake tree from ikea, it makes shower time...
Have you tried giving him a a long shower to help with the shed and eye stuff? Mine love being put in a soft warm shower, and while they don't always drink in there they do always spend some time cleaning their eyes out.
I can't speak to the leg question.
I wouldn't worry about it unless there's a lot of pesticides or other kinds of poisons in your area that the moth might have eaten. I've had a moth problem in my office since I tried to feed wax worms, and I often catch my chams snacking on those flying free range boogers.
Hello there, my favorite flavor of sprinkles! Sticky is GORGEOUS!! It seems like you've done a lot of research and it paid off tremendously with a top notch cage and a healthy little boy. Plus, you're raising some very polite children, who wanted so much to help you unpack the cage :DIf you...
It looks like a happy home! I have some suggestions that may help...
1, I highly recommend moving the heat lamp an inch or three off the top of the cage. Chams are known to walk upside down on the screen and can literally burn themselves if the heat lamp is too close. If you do raise the lamp...
I keep a separate colony of dubia and orange heads. The oranges are much bulkier. They also seem much more active, and more aggressive. I often see fighting and chewed wings in the orange head colony. I'd be interested to see someone try it, but I'd not recommend putting all your eggs in that...
I've found some old posts & blogs by sandrachameleon that have great info on gutloading, and even what seems to be a great recipe for a dry gutload to give proper portions. Does anyone have a comprehensive list of stuff to use in a wet / frozen gutload with approximate proportions? With as many...
I second the sticks notion. I had a panther that puffed and lunged whenever I came too close, and I was always able to maneuver him out onto a stick without too much hassle. I find that paint stirring sticks are just about the right length (y)
@kinyonga where did you find an alligator in Canada?! I thought I was bad enough sneaking a king snake into my parents house, but you win that round!
@eahoormann Don't look too seriously at real estate in NC right now. It's a sellers market, for SURE!
I do typically get more interested than negative reactions about the chameleons, especially when I whip out a pic of Toby when he's all colored up. However 4/5 times that I mentioned the feeder colonies or tarantulas I get a "less than pleasant" response. I appreciate all the comments so far...
Luckily he didn't actually drop the load ON me, but he did drop it while he was on my arm!
I was checking up on him while he was in the shower, when he started to walk towards me. I stuck my arm out and he climbed aboard ... then immediately lifted his leg and wouldn't move off my arm till he...
@serenaj25 permountain.com has a good sale going on right now. The prices on reptibreeze and reptibreeze LED cages are so low that I'm considering buying one just cause.
It's not so much about being more or less than anyone else, and my best friendships are usually based around giving each other shit.
What gets me is the negativity and the stereotypes. Any kind of willful ignorance gets under my skin.
I'm gonna rant a bit.
By most any account I'm a fairly successful person. I've got a good job, fun friends, a fantastic and supportive family, I earned a college degree while I was in the army, I pay my taxes, and I'll flatter myself by saying I'm a pretty stand-up kind of guy. However, when...
