Looking good! Using the foam backdrop to mount the most heads is another good idea. If I may make a couple (hopefully constructive) comments...
The branch uniformity is a bit distracting. Maybe shake their layout up a bit instead of keeping them straight horizontally and in a vertical line...
I'm a bit tired of trying to balance fresh fruits and veggies for me AND my feeders. Plus, there are tons of good gutload ingredients that my bugs never get because I don't want to load my own gut with them :D
I'm considering making a large batch of gutload that will last a while, plus include...
Assuming the bars don't rust, you can keep the humidity up, you always intend to cup or hand feed, and are ok with the occasional bug escaping the cage (because I promise some will escape the cup, your chameleon's mouth, AND your hand!), then I don't see why not. Assuming those things aren't a...
I've a mist king automatic mister and can't recommend it highly enough. One of my chameleons prefers drinking from drippers, though, since the mist king spray always sends him running. I've found the commercial "little dripper" type products are over priced, tough to dial in, and over time they...
He is roughly 1.5 years old. I've had him for almost exactly a year, and the breeder said he was 5-6 months old when I bought him.
Do the color changes always occur with a shed? And, should sheds occur at regular intervals? That thought never even occurred to me till now.
Thanks for the info, folks! I always assumed that adult colors were fairly well fixed. It's pretty amazing how complex these little creatures are.
I'd like to see that progression you mentioned @ispeedonthe405, and if you can find it that thread you mentioned @JacksJill.
My male panther, Toby, used to have all sorts of crazy colors. Over the winter he seemed to lose everything but his blues and greens. Those colors are still vibrant and healthy looking, but I miss the reds and all the rest. You can see his previous colors in my profile pic, and here's a more...
Sounds like Ike you've got a friendly, healthy little dude :) looking forward to your future pics!
I've only got 6 tarantulas, and they're mostly new world terrestrials :D I like them big, slow, and showy. Part of the reason I like them is how little maintenance they require.
He's adorable, and has nice distinct patterns for such a young'un! That pic makes me nostalgic for when my guy was tiny like that.
I'd recommend you keep you mind open about getting a bigger cage not too far down the line. Their growth kinda sneaks up on ya.
Also, what kinda arachnids do you...
Thank you both! Seems like experience is the real key here, because I can tell the difference in adult chameleon tails but at this size they all look about the same to me =)
I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone will soon come along who can. I'm also curious, because I hope to try my hand at breeding when my little female panther gets old enough. I'm sure I'll be just as nervous when that time comes, so I appreciate the chance to learn from your...
I'd say that's pretty normal. My guy seems to lose his appetite for a day or so around his shed, and they also go off the feed when they're stressed / moved too much. Try to minimize contact with him as much as possible for the next few weeks to let him settle in.
Also, if he's not immediately...
Thanks for the pics! I dig your pvc rack, and your gargoyle... Beautiful! I'm really considering getting some of those for my cage but they're kinda hott at the moment, and most places I've seen are way over charging for even the regular lines (at least IMHO).
Thanks for the ideas, artgecko! I'm still considering getting a fire skink or some gargoyle geckos.
Any chance you'd share some pictures of your pets, and their setups? It sounds like you've got a fun menagerie.
