I was lucky enough to grow up with a mom who's as crazy for animals as I am. She indulged MOST of my outlandish pet ideas when I was a kid so in my world, living with chameleons is pretty normal :)
I'm in the process of trying to buy a house right now and one of my requirements will be that...
Same thing happened this morning. I think this time he got a wing (it was a male dubia) and it just didn't have much traction.
Now that he's starting to come calling for good I'll start SLOWLY making him work more for it. Thanks!
My 1.5 year old male panther, Toby, just started eating from my hand. Up til now he never ate if I was even in sight so I'm learning a lot more about him.
I've noticed that sometimes (probably less than 1/4 of the time) when he gets a big prey item, like an adult male roach, it will escape from...
I'm not an expert, but I do have a 1.5 year old male panther ambilobe so please take my $.02 for what it's worth...
I do think the extra space from the large cage would be noticed and very much appreciated by Kubo. 6 inches may not sound like a lot but altogether the cage you mentioned is 33%...
If you hope to put them outdoors then they definitely need to be in a cage. They can and do climb or jump off trees to get away. That's not to say you can't put a cage around a tree! =) I have cages around a jasmine plant and a schefflera tree outside for my little buddies.
Ficus is a good...
Is there a reason you want to take her with you as opposed to leaving her at home and having a friend help with her care? If that's feasible, it seems like a safer bet.
I'm pretty close to Georgia, but far from Florida, here in North Carolina. I'm going to give this outdoor living thing a go, at least for a little while.
At what point is it too cold to keep them outdoors? Can they stay till the first frost, or...?
Hibiscus, schefflera, a couple kinds of pothos, bamboo, dracaena, and some fake silk plants in the indoor cage. Unfortunately the bromeliads and orchids I put in there didn't work out. The outdoor cages have a big trellised jasmine and a bigger schefflera.
Andee, if you look at that picture where she's flattened out you can see the mouth thing. It's not really open, just cracked a bit.
4horned, I can't take credit for the design but enclosures don't get much cheaper or easier than these outdoor cages. They're just a length of three foot tall...
Here are some more relaxed shots of her.
She does seem very "ribby", I'm not sure what's up with that. I've not seen any signs of sickness such as mucous, wheezing, or whatever. Just kinda weird that she leaves her mouth cracked a lot (like a mouth breather :P). She doesn't move much unless...
She is a cutey, right? :) I'm curious what she looks like normally but I'm in no rush to find out.
She was kind of scrunching down because the top of the cage moved a bit before I took that pic.
I don't think she's showing any signs of a ri besides the slight mouth crack, but I'll look more...
Thanks for the replies!
She does not have a bin as she doesn't have eggs yet.
I'm currently keeping her in an outdoor cage during the day and take her in at night while I get the temp settings on her new cage just right. I live in North Carolina and the highs are in the upper 80s / low 90s...
