Bugs absolutely can climb 3D printed surfaces. While they may have trouble initially with a vertical surface, there is enough texture for crickets and dubias to eventually climb.
:)
While a direct contact 3d printed food dish or water dish would not be advisable for the porous reasons mentioned, there are many creative ways to use 3d printed designs in feeding applications that I would argue do not pose such risks. The 3D printed cup holder in the image below for example...
Sorry to hear about your chameleon.
I agree that it's time for a vet.
That sand looks too dry from the photos. If you are having trouble with the moisture content on the surface, you may try adding another type of soil to the sand next time so that the clays in the soil mixed with the sand hold...
I have thought about that as well! Especially to hold a higher UVB light highter to reduce exposure like 10-12% and possibly hit 2 cages instead of just one.
Along those same lines, I did make this Arcadia light clip that suspends an Arcadia t5 light from a standard wire shelf. This worked...
My dubias don't take to greens that well either so I now mix them with a batch of Repashy bug burger. I make a mustard green jello out of it and they eat every bit.
I'm not sure I fully understand what you are intending, but the limitation with 3d printing is usually the printer bed area which limits the size of a print.
A common Ender 3 print bed size for example is 235 x 235 mm so the max length of any object is sqr(2)*235mm which is the diagonal length...
I like to raise them from eggs that I buy off eBay sometimes. So I usually have 1000 or zero silk worms.
Silk worms for like a week at a time. I expect this isn't too far from what happens in nature when there is an insect hatch. Similar to fly fishing.
If you are referring to a storage tote, I don't think the color matters imo. As long as lighting, humidity, and heat reequipments are met. When I was using totes, I like the high walled ones made by HOMZ. It has high walls, and the walls are vertical so there are no wasted gap space between...

Excellent color on these amazing panther chameleons.

I like Calcium Plus Low D.
That being said, the best supplement is a good gutloading regiment for feeders. Start buying carrots in bulk. Good hydration and nutrition for insects.

I’ve been waiting on this moment. I have had a breakthrough with my plants. I found this plant stand at Walmart one it changed the way I will be arranging my cages. This is the way with pothos.

For anyone considering a screen cage in the size (18x18x36) range, I wrote about my experience with Zoomed ReptiBreeze compared to ExoTerra Screen Terrariums. Hopefully this helps someone...
If you are wanting some very large and/or unique and custom, go for it. If you are doing it to save money, you won’t. The costs of materials wood, glue, screws, staples, screen, hinges, and maybe tools are gonna send you way over the cost of buying a commercial large screen cage (4-ft or so)...
Male Veild chameleons have spurs, male panther chameleons do not. I would get a new vet if possible imo. Sorry for your troubles. Good looking guy otherwise!
