Allison(Carlton) has experience with the K. matschiei species specifically, is well respected in the community and has warned you in your previous post that the temps seemed a little high(and the fact that they're prone to dehydration and you have no live plants in the cage) and that you're...
Reptisun 10.0 could be fine as long as there's an area they can choose to get out of it if desired. Always think gradients with not only temperature, but light and humidity as well. Screen does filter out some UVB and the 10.0 does counter that effect. Hatchlings are a different story but your...
I don't believe anyone would have a problem with species whose natural range overlap engaging in natural genetic experimentation without human intervention. That's nature's prerogative and part of the evolution of biodiversity. The problem occurs when humans try to create "something no one's...
From your link...
"The unlikely fertilization was a success, but the result wasn't quite what breeders had hoped."
"It's a controversial fish because it has several anatomical deformities, including such a narrow opening for a mouth that it's difficult for them to feed. They are bred...
Both species you mentioned are montanes which means they shouldn't be kept above 80-85 degrees. What have you been keeping them at? Please fill out the how to ask for help sticky in the health clinic forum.
Her lip is of concern but I'd be more worried if I didn't have cultures of Hydei fruit flies, bean beetles, and cricket eggs going. She definitely looks gravid. Good luck and keep us posted!
Aside from the fact that chameleons are separate species and not "breeds", and occur in and have been shaped by nature for hundreds of thousands if not millions of years. Most of the examples you've given have been selectively bred within their own species. Dogs, cats, chickens, cows, etc., even...
Fluorescent and mercury vapor bulbs are the best sources of artificial UVB that reptiles can use. Linear fluorescents are the safest(Reptisun 10.0 or Arcadia 12.0 and get a double fixture so you can also add a 6500K bulb to aid with visible light and plant growth) and used in conjunction with a...
I also don't see a fluorescent fixture and only an unnatural blue heat lamp. Just out of curiosity, you didn't get sold one of those incandescent black light bulbs as a source of UV did you?
That was the first thing I noticed along with the possibly malformed casque. Could be some metabolic issues that may need correcting. Would probably be wise to fill out the "How to ask for help" sticky in the health clinic section to hopefully shed light on any problems.
But seriously, the water and faeces are perfect breeding grounds for bacteria, mold and fungus creating a unhealthy environment. It should dry out between mistings and the poop should not be allowed to sit for very long. If it's not drying out then you need better drainage and/or air...
