    Leif the cross locale panther

It's been almost five months since I have last updated this thread. I got Leif outside for the first time since we bought a house. He didn't take the move as well as I had wished and so he lost a bit of weight but he's gaining it back:)

Coolest bug EVER! Snake head catapillar

I fed a variation of one of these to my panther. The one I caught looked just like Caterpie and as soon as my panther bit down, the caterpillar emitted the foul smelling odor and my panther immediately dropped it. I managed to get the event on my phone and uploaded to YouTube. I can look for the...

    Keeping chameleon in sunroom.

What wattage bulb do you use for basking? I think my 100w will be too much for ambient high 70s/80 degrees.

    Keeping chameleon in sunroom.

Hello CF members, been awhile since my last post here. As of right now my panther is being kept upstairs in the bedroom which isn't the most ideal space. We have no hvac system installed yet (70 year old house with incredibly outdated ducting/electrical/etc) so it gets quite warm like 80+*...

    Not your typical ant problem

AFAIK, they don't actually eat wood but remove it for tunneling and such. Our house inspection was done by a licensed contractor that we feel comfortable with. Like I mentioned above, we didn't see a single ant until after several days of rain. And I have yet to see any visible trails. They are...

    Not your typical ant problem

I believe they are, but not 100%. Before we bought the property, we toured several times and didn't see any ants at all. Actually until we had several days of straight rain. We did get the house inspected (boy was that expensive) and my wife and I both felt he did a terrific job. Emailed a 60+...

    Not your typical ant problem

That will be a last resort since we have animals/pets and small kids. Plus lots of wildlife since we're out in the country.

    Not your typical ant problem

See that is what I'm thinking. We just had several days of straight rain so that could be the cause, just looking for dry area. They also seem to only be upstairs, have yet to find any downstairs.

    Not your typical ant problem

I'm familiar with DE. My inlaws use the human grade kind. I will look into that. I have yet to see a dignified path but will keep an eye out, thanks!

    Not your typical ant problem

They are solid black and probably half inch long or less. Yeah I live in western NC. We just had a bunch of rain so that could attribute to it..

    Not your typical ant problem

I've delt with the tiny, black ants before. We call them sugar ants around here. I used a theves oil spray and that helped with those guys. They are uncontrollable in the warm months.
