So I just moved into our first house (woot homeowners) and a few days ago I set up Leif's enclosure after taking everything apart and cleaning. When I came home I went upstairs to check on the cage and noticed at least a dozen or so large, black ants. Especially under the uvb/light hood!?!
I...
How old is your panther? That looks like a 36x18x18 which are generally good for juvenile chams, not adults. Bigger is always better though! The coil type UVB are not recommended, look into the linear style of bulb. How are you accommodating for drainage? They require vast amounts of water for...
This is just a thought and since I don't have a female I don't even know if this would affect them.. do you have a lay bin in the enclosure? Maybe she's restless because she's gravid? Again, I have no experience with females so I wouldn't know for sure.
Here's my .02 with my panther and kids. First thing that comes to mind is a large, adult panther in good health will have a very strong grip that can puncture skin with ease. My 5 year old likes to hold my panther but as soon as he starts to climb up my son's arm, he gets a bit nervous with the...
He's a stunner! Well all the hornworms will cause runny bowel movements since they are essentially all water. My adult panther goes weeks without BMs as well and hardly ever deficates in his enclosure (loves to poop on my arm though:confused:). Your husbandry seems pretty spot on, hopefully more...
The analog guages are generally inaccurate. I have a digital temperature gun to measure temps and use a indoor/outdoor digital temperature/humidity display located next to the enclosure to monitor humidity.
You can buy the temperature/humidity probes and place them mid-upper part of the...
She appears to have MBD and her limbs look broken/fractured. She needs a vet ASAP or she won't last long. This is a critical situation, please don't hesitate!
What works easiest for me is to drill holes in the bottom panel for water to drain. Then place a container underneath to collect the water. My enclosure sits on a baker's rack with top shelf holding the cage and the second shelf holds the container.
She doesn't look good at all. I would be trying to hydrate her while you are waiting for vet care. You can watch videos of the syringe method to give her water ASAP. Unfortunately, time is not on your side. I hope she pulls through!
