How are you measuring the basking temperature? I highly recommend a digital temperature gun so you can accurately pinpoint the temperature grades throughout your enclosure. I personally use a 100w household bulb to achieve my temperature goal.
You never grab a chameleon but let him come out on his own terms. Unfortunately, you got a male veiled which are known to never take to people although there are exceptions. He may very well never want anything to do with you or he could eventually age and mellow out. But you need to respect his...
Thanks for the kind words. Every now and then, I'll browse this thread from beginning to end (while trying not to shed a tear) and it's crazy how fast they grow and how much their color changes in their lifetime. I wish their lifespans were a bit longer.
Ok guys, haven't updated this progress thread since November, and he just went through a full body shed which I find odd since he's almost two years old. Anyways, on to the pictures!!
Thought this was hilarious with the cricket on his head.
The beginning of his almost week long shed. Poor...
My MistKing goes off 4 or 5 times a day (sorry, I can't remember). Between 6:30am and 3:30pm with the noon misting session being several minutes long. If I fill up the Lowe's 5gal bucket, it'll last about a week. Just make sure to keep an eye on the water level so air doesn't get caught in the...
That tub is fine for crickets but probably not that large of an amount. You need better gutloading ingredients, that Flukers stuff is garbage, return it if you can. I gutload my crickets and superworms with a 'cricket crack' that I bought on Amazon, and use fresh veggies and fruits for the wet...
Short answer; no. Mealworms are not a good staple, superworms are a better choice and can also be gutloaded. What are you keeping the crickets in? I usually buy 30 or so and they can last two weeks depending on how much my panther eats. Also, what are you gutloading the crickets with?
There are...
I'm curious as to why you say to avoid superworms? Most of us use them as the occasional feeder (I feed about 3-4 a week, usually on the weekends to avoid my chameleon getting 'addicted'.)
There are black soldier fly larvae (and the adult fly), hornworms, waxworms, silkworms, various roaches, and if you live in the country you can catch wild caught bugs as long as they are not toxic or poisonous, although that's more of a seasonal thing.
