I had to dispose of 2/3's of my snail colony today. I just had way too many. They were breeding like crazy. I have a Jackson's who loves them, but i just had way too many for him to eat. Luckily i also have 3 turtles who enjoys eating them as well..but still. I kept about 4 second generation...
A Pic would be helpful. :)
Temp wise; my Jacksons personally hates any temp (basking or other wise) over 75 degrees. Anything over that and mine starts to gape. My overall cage is around 70, and the basking area a few degrees above that...but I know there are some that may prefer it a tad...
I had a Veiled Cham for 7 years and in those 7 years I saw him drink water TWICE! Yours maybe like my previous cham where I would make sure he had access to veggies all the time. He seemed to love bell pepper, blueberries, etc and seemed to get his moisture requirements met through eating those...
I keep my Jacksons in a part glass, part screen enclosure. The Front and back are glass. The sides and top are screen. Never had an issue, and the glass actually helps with the humidity.
I've often wondered if Chams/Reptiles in general get RI in the wild (I'm sure they do) and if so, is it a sure death sentence, or are they able to fight it off due to their superior immune system...? If so, the key to helping our animals through these diseases is to try to replicate the way...
I gave this to my snails and they really seem to love it! I've been reading reviews on this and it seems to be well received by Iguana keepers; I know chams and iguanas are different but I'm simply using this as an additional item to feed my snails in order to supply my cham with a little...
I keep and breed snails. I've got so many baby's right now ' I might have to start eating them myself' as I doubt my Jacksons can consume them all!
I keep mine in a 20 gallon aquarium with about 2 inches of potted soil in the bottom(they need this to breed). You can provide them with hiding...
Admirable but not logical.
When we take these animals out of the wild and into captivity, we are responsible for all the things that nature does for them...and this includes making the hard decisions of euthanizing them. If you cannot make these hard decisions, i'm sorry, but taking care of an...
I have a Jacksons and keep mine in a terrarium that is two parts glass (front and back) and three parts screen (the two sides and the top). The glass aspect really helps in creating humid conditions that Jacksons like, but not so humid to cause ventilation problems, as an all glass enclosure...
That Flukers gutload is not good at all. I've used it in the past myself, but on a scale of 1-10 as far as gotload goes, it's about a 2. There are FAR superior gut loads sold on this site (See Market section).
So i purchased this dry Iguana food as a dry food source for my snails ( i've read they really like it), and wanted to know if anyone else had ever tried to gut load their other feeders with it.
I usually feed my snails dark green leafy vegetables along with carrots, etc but i feed my crix and...
I READ that butter worms can cause a reaction in SOME chams; I personally have never seen it myself. I do notice however that when I feed butter worms, sometimes they pass through the body undigested and relatively whole...
