Don't force the skin off. It could be extremely painful for him. I recommend trying to up the humidity in his viv. A bit unorthodox, but when my cham is going through a difficult shed I prop a small humidifier w/ distilled water in her viv
Sorry to hear this about your cham :(
I was super worried about mine and it seems hers cleared up . I don't know about your husbandry but I ended up taking her to the vet to get her checked out in case. She was fine, and it turned out to be a slight Vit A deficiency, however I only took her to...
Hi, we are having issues keeping our plants alive in our cham's enclosure. I think the main problem probably stems from a lack of light - we have her UVB bulb on for ~12 hours a day, but I was thinking maybe a grow light might help the plants? We have tropical plants which in theory should...
Hi all... My 11 month old veiled cham is having an eye issue which has been going on for the past 2 days. She's got her right eye consistently closed and is rubbing it on a branch. I've had her for about 7 months, she's been pretty healthy up until now. She had a poo this morning and the urates...
Hi all... Found this thread, my veiled cham is having a similar problem. She's got her right eye consistently closed and is rubbing it on a branch. I've had her for about 7 months, she's been pretty healthy up until now. She had a poo this morning and the urates was white and the poo looked...
Morning guys, thanks for all of your input. She's just woken up and both eyes are now open so that's fantastic :) Haven't cancelled the vet's yet as I'm just going to keep monitoring her today but hopefully that's good progress.
Definitely. Really annoying and bad these guys have been selling chameleons for years (a specialty reptile shop - we got a tortoise from them about 20 yrs ago who has had zero issues since the day we got him so thought they'd be more reputable than your average shop). Sadly am disappointed.
For...
Thanks very much. She opened her eye at me earlier so now it's on/ off eyes open/ shut. Earlier in the day was completely shut. Fingers crossed she improves tomorrow otherwise will be going to the vet on Thurs.
Ok, interesting. Unfortunately a lot of the equipment is brand new and pretty expensive.. so frustrating to hear that the pet shop staff got a lot of it wrong. But I think I will invest in a new light for sure before further issues crop up and continue to montior her. Very nervous to take her to...
Haven't been misting her directly.
So the heat light is the issue? We got a cage around the heat light and to my knowledge she hasn't been anywhere near it anyway.
The locusts are maybe a thumb's length - pretty small. Pet shop said they had been feeding them to her before we got her. She's eaten some but she didn't eat all.
Her eye was fine until she woke up this morning. Even last night she was completely ok. Her eye started to open about 10 mins ago...
Ok, that is helpful to know. No it hasn't been sealed yet, we were planning to do that and take her out after she has calmed down a bit.
With the more pressing eye issue, is that something I should take her to the vet for? Is it a light issue?
