    Chameleon burnt crest

Manuka honey can be found in LOTS of stores, especially "health food" stores. Sometimes it's with the honey, sometimes in the pharmacy area. I got some on sale at a place called "Sprouts" when they first opened. Walgreens may even carry it? It's also available online in many places, just be...

    Gargoyle Gecko activity

An Update: Tonight I cut the lights out a little early. While bringing in my (many) orchids, because it's getting below 50 tonight brrrr, I decided to check on him/her. Much to my surprise, it was head first in the gecko food! I also noticed earlier that it had, in fact, pooped by where it...

    I’m super confused! A baby?

I, like Jan, live in Florida and support my local "willdlings" as well. I kick the boring brown ones outside, but the pretty green ones with the eyeliner get to enjoy my cham free range! Only when my males aren't using it though as they tend to try and eat any wild anoles. Here's me the other...

    Posting my silkworm experience

I will add that once they get feeding size or better, they don't like to go without food AT ALL. The biggest ones are happy so long as there is constantly food nearby. As soon as that food get scarce - not even depleted - they will begin to spin their cocoon. The smaller size adults, around 2...

    Caterpillar / worm question

^^^ This. They are VERY bitey! There are plenty of horror stories about bites from hornworms - usually to the mouth or eyes. The worms innate response to being grabbed (or bitten) is to turn and bite. The bigger ones actually hurt too! (I've been bitten a few times) There's two things I...

    Bio active for Leo?

Well, they make "aird" springtails (for dry climates) and I know both powder orange and orange scabers are OK with dry areas - as are clowns and Montenegro isos, but they're kinda pricey! You've been around long enough... take the leap. You can always do what I did and just make an enclosure to...

Opinions On Converting a Birdcage For Chams

Here's a shot of the cage itself. Don't mind the plants, my patio is also my nursery... It's not exactly a top notch build as I just use it to keep the chams from wandering off and am moving in a few weeks. The chair cushion makes for a good sun and sight block. Few vines and a few plants...

    Bio active for Leo?

This is my gargoyle gecko bioactive. And this is how it's setup: Red - this is my clay ball layer Light gray - screen or mesh Dark gray - charcoal layer Green - substrate (my personal mix) Yellow - this is left over tubing from where I set up my mistking. It runs down to the clay ball...

Opinions On Converting a Birdcage For Chams

Plexiglass with a few holes and zip ties works well. I don't have the issue of humidity like most though, thankfully!

    Gargoyle Gecko activity

Mine is pretty close to peanut butter consistency. The package said 2:1 water ratio, but I thought it was too soupy myself. I've tried a few flavors... but I'll have to get more I guess. Luckily they aren't too terribly expensive. Mostly I'm concerned I'm not finding poop... but I do know that...

Here's the one I keep on my porch with the veiled in it at the time. I don't have a full shot of it at the moment...

Opinions On Converting a Birdcage For Chams

They're coated and fairly rust proof. I have had mine for 10+ years and it does have some very minor rust. It was consistently sprayed down with water as well. The good ones are made to last.

Opinions On Converting a Birdcage For Chams

Yea, lights right on top is a bad idea. You're gonna wanna put some wood blocks or something to keep the lamps up as chams can and will spiderman from the top. That's the thing with bird cages... chams can touch every part.

I use Pangea foods at the moment. I also use smaller crickets. The dairy cows in the cage are the same size, or bigger, than the crickets. I have 3 cups of food with just enough to cover the bottom of the little cup. I noticed last night and the night before that he/she seems quite active. Just...

Opinions On Converting a Birdcage For Chams

My only concern with that specific cage would be the durability of the bars and the doors. Chams can puta good amount of force behind their head and squeeze through some slim spots - possibly bending the bars. [It doesn't give a gauge or thickness of the bars themselves]. That being said, I use...

    CUC's What Variation Is Best?

There are actually more types of springtails. I can't tell you the name off hand, maybe silver something?, but they tend to not "bloom" like the mainstream version. They also tend to live deeper in the soil I think. As far as the original question, it really depends on your specific...

    Cage rebuild

Thanks, I appreciate it. Unfortunately, my hutch just didn't hold up over time. But it's for the best as I've learned so much since making it that I want to redo it!! Here it was a few months ago (the hutch wasn't bio active) : It sits about 6'-6" or so, the top is 6ftx4ft with a solid divider...

    Female Veiled Chameleon Stopped Eating

I happened to have a few photos of my planter in action: This is the 16x16 reptibreeze cage. That's my 14" planter with a "patio" sized hibiscus. My girl was under 6 months old when she decided to lay... I'm so glad I decided to give her a plant! Here she is on her way out... one of my...

    Female Veiled Chameleon Stopped Eating

Well... I can give you two ways to do it. The one I've been told and the one that's worked for me. First and foremost, they need a bigger laybin, in all directions. Usually you want about 12" cubed (deep and wide) or more. It's also said to not use a clear bin. Some people add a big rock as...

    Cage rebuild

    1) Drainage: what I do is quite simple, add a literal drain. A simple hole saw of the appropriate size for your drain (I use bathroom sink drains - 1-3/4") and Bob's your uncle. A decent drill and hole saw WILL go through just about any material. If for some reason you're using something tougher...
