Remember that all ballast are not created equal, Arcadia has some nice ballast/fixtures at lightyourreptiles .com, joshsfrogs.com, etc, a cheap ballast can shorten the life of your Arcadia bulb, it also may not have enough or too much wattage and will not come with the extra filters, protection...
The gecko def looks like a uroplatus species, maybe a uroplatus fimbriatus. Sometimes is as chameleon keepers get laser focused on the things we think we know for sure are always true, for example the sand in the enclosure, Impaction can happen from multiple things, eating some grains of sand...
Yes they’re also sponsors of the forum. They have the best systems out. But if your a little mire budget restricted, a guy makes custom pvc drainage trays d.w geckos.com , reptibreeze also makes some
Welcome to being a worried chameleon owner, welcome to the forums. As for your questions there are several approaches to your issues. Even though your a stay at home mom, I HIGHLY recommend budgeting for a mistaking system. It will make your Cham keeping less of a chore and it’s super easy to...
Well that was a read, I made up character voices for all of you.. @jannb is the goat, her charms look great, some of the best on this forum. Your veiled is tough, all veileds are tough, the fact that you care enough to do so much research shows she’s in good hands, i wouldn’t bash the vet so...
I don’t know if your trying to be funny but you sound like your a .... don’t come on here asking for help then getting smart with anyone trying to help. Go help yourself
Keep in mind your young panther chameleon won’t need to bask under much more heat than the quads put out, make sure you keep that little guy hydrated if you decide to provide the basking spot. I believe mine got a very weak bulb for the first month I had him. The room temp was about 72 and the...
Make sure you guys use a good hygrometer, use one with probes, you can set up your probes in the pockets of your cage, keeping the gauge up high will throw off your readings since the lights keep that area dry!
I raised my panther in the same cage, he did great, I have the feeder cups that @nick barta sells , used a dropper and misting ayatwm
And tones of very thin branches and pothos. Good luck, post pics!
Woah lots of humidity issues here, humidity is a big factor in keeping chameleons hydrated, it might be difficult to keep your entire enclosure at 70% humidity so provide a pocket of dense foliage that your chameleon can access with high humidity, I personally wrap my reptibreeze in 3m clear...
The reptibreeze is fine, you just have to set it up right, use a lot of small branches and a feeder cup to make it easier for your little one to eat, veileds are great hunters and would do fine either way. Remember in the wild they have a whole bush or tree to roam, a 4 foot cage isn’t at all big .
I would definitely add more horizontal branches, looks good but your veiled will destroy those orchids, I’ve learned chameleons love to trample over pretty plants, lol, I just use pathos now over the frustration.
I recently upgraded my uroplatus sikorae to a bigger enclosure leaving me with a 24” wide 18” deep 36” tall exoterra enclosure free, would this planted enclosure be adequate for a dwarf Jackson? That’s my first choice, the enclosure is in my basement which is slightly cooler so I’m looking for a...
Hi there, congrats on your Cham. Im going to give you advice on the humidity for your Cham. Veileds are known to be very hardy for a chameleons so I wouldn’t loose sleep over an exact % . I wrap my cages in clear window film on 3 sides using the double sided tape, the stuff to keep winter drafts...
I just use joshs frogs abg mix in my uroplatus enclosures with a drainage layer, I also have a pvc pipe with holes drilled in and it’s covered with some left over screen, i use a wet vac once a month to suck the water out..
