    Running out of the cage

My six-month-old has started doing the same thing. A few days ago I opened his cage and he propelled himself out of the cage onto my arm and ended up perched on my head. He's been scooting up my arm every day since then as soon as I open the cage. For him I think it's one of two things: 1) he...

    Photographing Chameleons

I have a CliMist with a timer, so it just sprays cold, but the mist is so fine it isn't the same as a hand-held mister. If I use a spray bottle, I use hot water and spray the top of the cage. The mist that gets to the chams is cool. My enclosures are so heavily planted I don't like to spray hot...

    Photographing Chameleons

I mist mine 3-5 minutes at a time daily. It usually takes at least a couple of minutes to stimulate them to clean their eyes and drink.

    Photographing Chameleons

    Photographing Chameleons

Thanks! My guy's a yellow crested, and my best guess is that he's wild-caught. He seems a lot larger than most of the Jackson's I see on the discussion groups. He's a bit over 14" and weighs 170gms. Do you have a recent image of your guy?

A pic of Lo-key, our yellow crested Jackson's Cham. Just under 4 months old

My Jackson's was about that size at around a year old. He definitely doesn't look four months old with that body and those horns. Here's mine at about nine months.

Where did this beetle come from and can my veiled chameleon eat it?

That's a darkling beetle, the beetle stage of a mealworm. Yes, your cham can eat them. Mine love them!:)
