This is my new panther's first shed since I've had him, and now he has the most amazing jewel-tone turquoise with some emerald greens thrown in. Gotta love a rescue mutt!
My quad and my Jackson's are both full-grown and they shed every 4-6 weeks. I've only had my panther three weeks or so and he's shed once. It sounds like yours is growing on track. Be sure his humidity and hydration are correct, it's easier on them when they are shedding. I usually bump it up a...
My Jax won't eat the same feeders twice in a row. If I offer crickets he'll eat a few, then I get a look like I have lost my mind to offer him crickets. That being said, he's a good eater as long as he hunts (or I can hand-feed). He will NOT eat out of a cup. He gets on the branch above his cup...
I think you're right, I think I read something about the sap being toxic to chameleons. The Driftwood doesn't have any left it's basically just a dried husk for them to climb on.
I wouldn't bake it because of the sap. Soaking it would take care of any parasites, but I would be more concerned with the chameleon's exposure to the sap. The driftwood doesn't worry me because it's essentially been soaking in saltwater then baked by the sun. Also, it's sturdy but light-weight...
One of my favorites is driftwood I collect from my beach. Most of it is pine, but there's no sap or bark left to it. I also have oak branches, but they seem to get moldy pretty fast.
Hey, Repikeeper! Any kind of substrate on the bottom is actually going to give you another cleaning chore.because your feeders are going to burrow under it, then you have to clean the bottom of the cage and the substrate. A better idea is to just fill the bottom with potted plants. That will...
He's stunning! One of my trio stayed dark for a few days after moving to his new enclosure. I added more vines for coverage and he perked up and went back to his happy green color. Good luck!
