I'm not expert but having raised 4 veileds, nothing jumps out at me right off. I've noticed that during the winters they don't eat as much and sense the weather changes. I also use Repashy bug burger and their Calcium Plus and I dust feeders every feeding. It could be possible that your's got...
Hi jannb, I've followed you on here for years. I've raised 2 female and 2 male veilds (1 was a rescue). None ever mated even though there is a 5-gallon nesting pail available. I only have one female left and thought about getting one more male from FLChams. Then I thought of you. How much harder...
I've used money tree, ficus, and a few others but always had trouble getting enough light down through the hanging plants and the trees would die. I just hung a bunch of thick fake vines around the cage at different heights and did away with the trees. If you have a female you can still have a...
What I did was to take some artificial vines and make triangles of them that reach from back center to either front side and at body length from top down. He climbs on them. There is nothing on the bottom of his cage, nor should there be. All his plants hang from the top-back of his home and...
Ok. I went back and read all the posts. I see that now. How is he doing today?
I've never used IR heat bulbs, only 60w incandescent (regular) ones and I have two straight T4 Sunblaster fluorescents. Those are on separate timers that run from about 6:30-7:30 am to around 8:00-8:30 pm. My mister...
Love the design. I just hung a quart glass jar by some wire, then velcro, then swapped it out for a tupperware-style tub with a hole cut in the lid because they kept escaping. LOL. Now he's big enough (2 feet long) that he just catches feeders on his own. One thought, could being clear...
Yes, it is a pothos. i have one in my chamy cage and it does very well but it needs plenty of light to sustain growth. Don't be afraid to trim back long runners. You can replant them (root nodes go below soil level) in same pot or for new pots that can be switched out. They are strong enough for...
Thanks so much. Spent months reviewing enclosure threads here and months building it. Think 4 years without any probs is pretty good. So thankful to Chameleon Forums for all the guidance.
I dust all my chamy feeders with Repashy Calcium Plus. I feed him every 3rd day. He has been healthy the whole time I've had him - 4 years. Get rid of the night heat bulb. He needs to cool down to rest. Night temps in the mid 60s are ok.
Hey folks. I made this enclosure 4 years ago and Rambo has lived in it ever since. Finally decided to upgrade his lighting last year adding Sunblaster fluorescent T4s. Just finished removing the old floor and replaced it with a much stronger, thicker wood structure. Outside of that everything is...
I have been using Superload for chameleons for 4 years and my veiled is strong and healthy. I also dust with Repashy Calcium Plus. They have both worked perfectly!
Yeah, I agree, it needs to be about twice as tall. Standard is 24x24x48. Hardware wire, unless it's plastic coated, can be lethal. I like to use large-holed black charcoal screen. Keeps bugs in and lets more light through.
I know what you mean. My local PetSmart put the mom'n'pops out of business and now there is nothing else local. Several people complained about the chameleon care and they responded. Now they don't carry chameleons at all! Problem solved.
