No, it wasn't to do his treatments, but he seemed to enjoy coming out. Especially when he got to go outside. Like I said he was very active and he liked to roam around the living room and garden when've he came out.
Okay, I can do that. I did try doing it before but it seemed like the crickets would just track it all over their water gelatin stuff, and then they couldn't get the water out of it. Is there something else I should be using or can they still get the water from it and I just can't tell?
Also, I'll make sure the clean everything with bleach water. What about the live plants, though? If I leave them outside for a few months and water them regularly, will they be alright to put with another cham? Or do I need to buy new ones?
Chameleon info:
• Your Chameleon: Male veiled chameleon, about 10 months old at time of death; about 8-9 months old when symptoms began to show. Had him for about 5-6 months.
• Handling: about 30 to an hour every other day on week days; 1-2 hours daily on weekends
• Feeding: 6-8 crickets...
This past Friday I lost my baby boy to gout :( the vet didn't diagnose it in time (despite us coming in as soon as symptoms started showing) and then couldn't find the medicine! He was a veiled and about 10 months old. I miss him so much, walking through the room where his 4ft cage used to be...
My veiled passes away a little while ago, and I was just looking for some local breeders. I don't know if I'll be buying anytime soon but I'd definitely like to know for the future!
I've heard veiled chams are better for beginners, that's why I got mine. But the care is relatively similar from what I've heard. But like someone said above, it's a little worrisome that you don't want to be directed to links. You need to do a LOT of research on any pet before purchasing...
Oh my goodness she's adorable!! Congrats! I know exactly what you mean about gushing over her, I've had my boy for a few months now and sometimes i still can't control myself from talking about him. Love her patterns as well :p
Is this the same chameleon that was posted about in another thread? His legs look like he may have gout. They're very lumpy. Especially on his right side; the back knee looks large and misshapen, and the front one looks like it's swollen just past the elbow. I would definitely see a vet.
He looks pretty good to me!:) Colors are nice and bright, eyes nose and mouth all look good, legs look straight and sturdy, and he doesn't appear to be underweight. Are his eyes sunken in at all, though? It's hard to tell in the pics. Also, how's his behavior? Active? Eating and drinking a lot?
I've been to the vet a few times recently with my cham for gout recently, a few times actually. I think the first two times were around $114 with x-rays and medicine, and the third time was just a checkup and that was only $15. It really depends on who you go to and what they do. Definitely ask...
So a couple months and three vet visits later, they decided that my veiled does have gout. It's mainly in one of his hind knees, but he's got deposits along his tail (weird, I know.) But anyway, the vet is currently looking for the medicine to prescribe to us, and has been for the past few...
