If you're talking regular brown/house crickets that you find at Petco/Petsmart, there really isn't much you can do to prevent some die-off.
Recently I switched to banded crickets, and they are SO much better. Much more hardy. I'll buy 1,000 at a time, and I don't have any die. Not one.

The Arcadia 12% is more powerful than the Reptisun, so yes.
Also, the Arcadia lasts longer than the Reptisun.
If you can afford the quad fixture from Lightyourreptiles, I strongly recommend it! Your plants will thrive in the process.
Are you talking Reptisun? And will it be on top of a screened top? If so, I'd go with 10.0 for sure, and make sure you have enough plant cover for the cham to get away from it when it wants to.
Yeah, you're good with that size. Like someone else said, your cham will be getting bigger by the week.
Also, superworms do have less chitin than mealworms, making them easier to digest.
You just don't wanna make superworms a staple diet. I use banded crickets (much better than the regular...
I figured it out. If you click on "beetle cultures" at the top of the page, all that shows up are blue bottle fly larvae, orange head roach and dubia roach. You have to click on "shop now" in order to find them.
:eek::eek::eek:
Seriously tho, looking forward to seeing this. You gonna have live plants? Also, did you say the enclosure was gonna be 36" tall? Ideally, 48" is the minimum.
I'm in WI near Milwaukee, so it's a decent drive. I've gone twice to the fall show. It is amazing. I highly recommend paying the extra money for the VIP tickets if you can. It gets you in Fri night, so you can check stuff out while the vendors are setting up. And you get in a few hours (2.5 I...
Have you tried dubia roaches?
I had a nice colony going, but sadly my veiled wouldn't touch them. I was bummed because they're very nutritious, quiet, don't smell much, and I had a huge, growing colony.
I got a panther back in July, and thankfully, he LOVES his roaches. I hope that doesn't...
Sorry for your loss.
I lost a veiled last summer, completely out of the blue. He was/seemed 100% fine one day, and was dead the next morning. Sometimes there's really nothing you can do. :(
I had replied earlier saying I was wrong on that. I thought it was one of those moonlight bulbs that give off blue light. But that isn't the case with this particular bulb. ;)
