Panther and his lack of humidity

What about a humidifier to go along with the mister? I feed one into a piece of PVC pipe that's the width of the cage. I capped one end and drilled holes in the pipe so it distributes the fog nicely. In a regular 24x24x48 screen cage I find can hold the ambient humidity high enough, in...

Ideas for hanging plants from this stand

What about something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Achla-Designs-Flowerpot-Bracket-SFR-08/dp/B001E8V0GA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496266400&sr=8-1&keywords=flower+pot+ring I bought a few and I was thinking of attaching them to a PVC structure done up to look like tree trunks. Regular size...

Ideas for hanging plants from this stand

Those fake tree planters ended up looking pretty good but they were also 38 pounds each. 6" PVC for the trunk, metal L brackets to hold the branches, and then the final layer of epoxy putty to make the bark. It was just too much mass. If I were to do that again I would probably use polystyrene...

Does my chameleon look like it has MBD

Reading the care sheets as others have suggested should be the first thing you do. Your supplementation is incorrect and the coil type UVB lights are generally considered weak & inadequate. He's not getting nearly enough calcium and in combination with the weak light this will lead pretty...

Baby meets automatic mister for the first time

Yeah, I guess he's not a baby any more. But it's been a while since I had a little one and I'm enjoying it.

    Is he fat?

Thanks, I think that's fixed now.

    Is he fat?

Male Ambilobe, age 2 yrs 5 mo +/- 2 weeks, weight 290+ grams. I know from past experience that my scale agrees closely with my vet's. He's otherwise healthy. Extremely tolerant, gentle giant. I think I might have made him into a fatty. But I don't want to put him on a diet needlessly, so I...

Baby meets automatic mister for the first time

Poor little guy was a bit overwhelmed when the first cycle kicked in. By the end of the day he stopped running for cover, but he still doesn't like to get wet.

    DIY MISTING SYSTEM

The pump is the only expensive part of a typical mister setup and I found it difficult to source a comparable unit without coming at least close to the price of a prefab kit. That didn't stop me, as I assembled my own anyway. The pump alone cost me more than a Climist or Mistking kit but it runs...

    Faded colors on panther chameleon

Changes over about 2 years. Every shed is an adventure, although at this point in his life I think he's settled down on dramatic base-color changes (upper right).

Chameleon refusing food and actively climbing screens

At 5-6 months of age, all of my panther boys went through a period where they would spend about half their day doing gymnastics. The Cirque du Chameleon routine is, as far as I can tell, a normal part of adolescence. Periodically going on strike against one or more types of feeders is also...

    Veild at Petsmart

Thankfully, my local Petsmart has stopped carrying chameleons. This is probably because the last three they had died in their cages. Last one didn't even make it to four months of age.

    Please help young panther chameleon

He looks worse than dehydrated. Take a good look at the legs, tail and head. That did not happen in the short span of a school day. This thread is from yesterday. On the off chance that the animal is still alive, do please answer the questions that were asked of you.

Metal Bird Cage? Pro or Con?

I've used birdcages for outdoors-time. For indoor/primary use it's easy enough to attach mesh screen to keep feeders in while retaining the built-in attachment points (for branches and such) provided by the birdcage frame.

    Silly Chameleon

I can barely keep mine in his cage. The moment he sees me he hangs on the door until I let him out. Sometimes he goes right back in after climbing on me for a while, other times his little brain is fixed on exploring the world.

    Habitat 3.0 DIY build

I've been stalled for a bit. In retrospect, using a shelf unit as the frame was a terrible idea. For a free range it would be fine, but as the frame isn't square in any sense it's been madness trying to make an enclosure with it. Still proceeding however. I hope to have it done enough by the...

How long should a chameleon stay out of his cage?

When chams stretch it can look like they're having a little fit.

    Chameleon stays on screen.

You can line the walls with cheap plastic garden fence to protect his little toes. When my guy starts hanging on the screen it's because he wants out.
