Yeah, It’s crazy. They have so much enjoyment out of it and their so smart. I take cooper outside in the summer as much as I can. Cause we have a tree in our backyard. As soon as I put him in he’s doing leaf walks, basking, and he’s always bright green. It’s pretty amazing.
Place smooth rocks on the dirt if you have problems keeping your Cham out of the soil. Once it becomes spring time where you live, lots of more places have a larger selection on plants. All you need to do if find a list of safe plants for chameleons.
Well if he belines to the floor it’s probably because he doesn’t feel safe all the way on the floor, and he wants to get to where he wants as soon as possible.
I just have a mini cage setup for mine. I put thick towels all around it so it’s mostly dark. Just make it big enough so that he doesn’t get stressed out, etc. and you will be fine. Just make sure to spray him for five or ten minutes when you get back.
So I was watching tv. with cooper in my hand, next to the window. I was just letting him do his thing. Basking in my hand, and I look down. And half of his body is bright green. And the other half is black. He was really trying to attract that sun lol.
He’s just young and curious. The older chameleons get. The lazier. I’ve found, if you just let him do his thing, eventually he gets to a spot where he is content.
I would encourage him coming out on the daily if he wants too, your lucky he wants to escape his cage. Not all Chams are like that. If you DO take him out daily, I recommend buying a tall plant, safe for chameleons to eat. Like a ficus. If they don’t have a ficus just research a list of safe...
I would rather buy a chameleon from an online breeder. And that’s what I did, I bought a male veiled from LLL reptile. And he came in perfectly fine. Everything worked out, great shipping etc. much better than the poor petco chameleons. Every time I buy crickets from petco I can’t help but look...
Problem is, my guy doesn’t eat anything he doesn’t recognize, I have to trick him into eating other things and expanding his diet. If he’s been feeding crickets the entire time then that could be a problem
If they have Dubia roaches, get those. Their high in protein and are super hardy. But if they have waxworks, worse scenario you feed him some of those. their very fatty, almost like a dessert for chameleons
i just recently changed my chams encloser up an moved it into a different room, he had no change at all and kept eating and drinking, i would just keep an eye on it and see if this keeps going on.
