If you do refurbish something, particle board is fairly easy to remove. It’s usually just stapled in. You can replace it with plywood. I’m in the process of doing that right now for my custom build. That being said, my cabinet is solid wood aside from the top, back and bottom...so I’m only...
My little boy is also a FL Cham! He’s about 9-10 months old though. He’s from the Newton bloodline and his colors just get more and more stunning. Enjoy watching Pip grow up!
Thank you! This is helpful. I'm still a bit unsure how to get the pots to stay still while spraying Great Stuff though. Unless...I suppose I could spray some foam, stick them on that, then spray around them...
Update on custom build:
The glass panels in the doors have been removed and we bought aluminum window screen in charcoal to attach where the glass was
The top has been removed and we have plenty of aluminum window screen to cover the top as well
The plywood panel for the back of the enclosure...
So the reservoir would need to sit on the top of the cage? Or just above the pump? There's a shelf in the cabinet -- would it work to have the pump on the bottom shelf and the reservoir on the top shelf?
Also, how would I cover up the edges of the screen once it's been stapled in? The glass...
Just purchased this cabinet from FB Marketplace for $50. Going to repurpose it for Leo’s new, permanent home. Here’s the plan:
Take out the glass in the doors and replace with screen
Remove the top and replace with screen — this is where the lights will sit
Remove the back (it’s stapled to the...
And because I know you all will ask - ;)
Your Chameleon - Veiled chameleon; male; 8-9 months old; he has been in my care since October 18, 2018
Handling - I don't really handle Leo. I hand feed him daily, and a few weeks ago I started putting my left hand between him and my right hand (the one...
You will all be happy to know that I have seen the light...and Leo will not be returning to my classroom next year. The only reason I haven't taken him home permanently yet is because I'd like to build a custom enclosure for him first. I do want to say that he's been growing and behaving...
Oh good! My two initial guesses were 1) he was pooping or 2) it was a territorial display. Funny that you mention it, @jamest0o0 — he’s currently shedding! Thanks everyone!
I haven't had time to look through the threads on here yet, but today I saw Leo do something he hasn't done before. He was on his vine near the back of his cage and he was HUGE. He had puffed up really big the way he does before he hisses at me when I'm too close...except no one was near his...
So the care sheet for veiled chameleons says that at 8 months old they should be eating 10-12 crickets every other day. Leo is between 8 and 9 months old so he's definitely ready to be/should already have been eating every other day. My question is, do I just stop feeding him daily or am I...
I hand fed ALL (about 15) of his crickets today! And the time between hissing/lunging and taking them from my fingers has already drastically decreased! Trying to to be too excited because maybe he's just having a really good day...but I'm really excited!
@Beman Unfortunately I don't have those dimensions, but looking at the photo it looks like it's at least as tall as his current enclosure (24x24x48). Thank you for sharing that thread, I'll check it out! Thanks @Brodybreaux25! I was hoping I could leave the back and sides the way they are and...
So I've been combing through the enclosure threads for quite some time and I really want to build a custom, aesthetically appealing enclosure (Leo's current enclosure is an eye sore) that is also going to meet all of Leo's needs. I've settled on this piece of furniture made of knotty pine. The...
He’s in a smaller cage right now so it’s very hard to get below him, but when he’s in his normal cage he’s always higher than my head. Yes! Slowly but surely! I also was fortunate enough to see him drink from leaves today after I sprayed his cage for the second time. He could see me clearly but...
