What would be bothering her then? I don't handle her much unless I need to clean up and the only time I open the cage is to mist or feed her usually. Yesterday I had to help her get some shed off her tail and toes, do you think that could be bothering her?
She has never hissed at me before, only this morning she did when I went to put her food in there. She's never hissed at me before and I haven't done anything differently either.
My female seems to have become aggressive all of a sudden. I haven't changed anything in the way of caring for her, she seems restless and a little wider than she was yesterday so I opened the laying bin. She seems to be displaying grayish bars of coloring and she hisses at me when I open the...
I have a major obsession with dinosaurs that I have had since I was a little girl. I'm also obsessed with Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Harry Potter (books and movies, RIP Alan Rickman), Jurassic Park and the Lost World books, and I have one tattoo of Little Foot from the Land Before Time...
I am so sorry to hear that. The vet should have never handles him like that. I hope you find a great vet and your future chameleons will have a better chance.
Based on what you have written, I would say maybe just starting to dust them may be throwing him off since he's not used to it. You should get a digital thermometer and hygrometer to be sure that the temps and humidity are where they need to be, especially since it is winter.
Feel around her belly, you should be able to feel little lumps a laying bin should be a large opaque container with at least 12 inches of clean playsand or dirt. MBD is ametabollic bone disease and be caused due to not enough supplementing, lack of calcium. In the pictures I can't say that she...
I havent had any issues with the moss and she doesn't hunt, I have a feeding cup since the crickets were figuring out how to get under the floor of the cage and she couldn't find them.
Here is my Reptar's new big girl enclosure since she's getting close to egg laying age. I got her a big cage and finished furnishing when I got home today. A couple more vines are coming but I don't know if I will actually need them.
With the information you gave there is not much to indicate what could be wrong with him. Most times, chams will stop eating if their environment changes (even if it seems irrelevant to us) or when they are sick. The best thing to do would be to fill out the ask for help form.
Chameleon Info...
Waterfalls can build up bacteria but with filtered water, you may not have that issue. If you know it's clean and your cham drinks out of it, I wouldn't worry about it.
She does seem bigger. I believe that if you feel her belly, you should be able to feel the eggs but since she is weak and sickly she could be eggbound and you may want to take her to the vet just to be safe. Do you have a laying bin in her enclosure?
I think the second options sounds amazing but I would leave out the waterfall unless you are willing to clean/ sanitize it everyday. If you feed them with tongs there should be no issues with worrying that your cham cannot find its food but if you let the crickets loose and are worried about...
