LukeTheLizard if you do I can't recomment Rwenzori Mountaineering Services enough, they are great and very flexible, and very good at spotting chams! It's my pleasure to share the photos, I'm glad you all enjoyed them! 😁
Unfortunately there is already a lot of planting of eucalyptus, palm and pine trees across the country that are fast growing then chopped again, but the deforestation in the park isn't replanted I think it's just left to rewild or plant food in. The RMS guides didn't seem to know what sort of...
Thank you! I'm a total amateur photographer, with a very old camera that's like the typical '00s selfie cams haha but I hope people like them and that I get some votes in the calendar comp on here and the other comp i entered! 😆
Pics I got of the chameleons I saw in Rwenzori! For reference, I didn't touch them however the guide did which I did point out was likely to be stressful for the cham, but the pictures were all taken of them from a safe distance (i'm also vaxxed and masked when travelling and social distance)...
UPDATE: Just got back, I saw 8 chameleons in 3 days!! Saw a juvenile male Jackson's, a gravid female juvenile Jackson's, another female Jackson's, a flap necked i think, and 4 rhinoceros chameleons (all male) including a baby one! Had an amazing time, will post some pictures when I can get them...
Hi,
So I'm finally able to go to Rwenzori and I hope to see chameleons in the wild in their natural habitat (not taking them obvs, only pictures, I just REALLY want to see them in the wild, have for the last 6-7 years since falling in love with the species) any tips for spotting them in the...
Don't worry, I'm absolutely vigilant about having the least amount of impact as possible wherever I go, I went on an expedition to Peru a few years ago when I was 16 and took lots of pictures and left lots of footsteps but managed to take a lot of extra rubbish home with me (as in trash if...
I think I'll be staying in Uganda as my dad was going to come out which would overlap but it looks like this will be a solo trip for me as his work is pushed back, I'd like to go to Rwenzori but I've never gone looking for wild chams before so not sure where to start the search or how to...
Looks very thin, are you sure she's been eating, have you seen her eat or just put the crickets in and not observed any feeding? If she has been eating you should get a fecal done anyway but I think a vet visit is worthwhile considering you can see her spine quite clearly.
I'm applying to Bristol in October to start 2022 and will also be applying to RVC and Bristol for vet nursing as backups too. Thanks for the tip about the scholarly papers, a great idea!
Oh yeah no way was I ever going to try and take them I just really love chams and its number 2 on my bucket list (after getting into vet school) to see them in the wild! Probably should have clarified that i am doing it purely to observe and probably cry from excitement!
Hi,
I'm currently in Uganda and possibly going to Kenya in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone has any idea where to go in Kenya to find wild chams? Also, if any members from Uganda or Kenya see this, it would be great to meet up someone with experience here (I'm double vaxxed and still...
