Thank you again, this is a huge help. I cannot buy the solarmeter as it is really expensive for me. Also a fixture for T5 is almost impossible to find, everything is for LEDs only.. that's why i will have to go with T8 with higher output. As for reptisun bulb, i do not think they sell those here...
Thank you so much for a valuable input! I will add info you couldnt get beacuse it's not in english and answer your questions now.
I cannot get hands on aluminium screen that is not silver. I read that silver screens reflect too much light and it's hard to see through. This one is made of HDPE...
If anyone has something to say to my shopping list and husbandry here as well, i will post my list and recap here as well!
Allright so the cage itself will be made out of wood that will be treated with boat wood sealant thats water resistant and will vent a lot before i place chameleon in...
Allright so I'm about to start buying and building cage for my very first chameleon. I've done really big research and i think i know what i need to know now. I've formed a shopping list of items I'll need but I'm not sure whether i got everything and everything is right etc.. is anyone here by...
I was thinking in bigger numbers to kickstart it a bit faster, like maybe 20 adults and 10 subadults, then feed small ones as they are born. If i don't want to purchase anything extra for them to nibble on, would basic stuff like oranges, apples, carrots, some greens work for them? How do you...
Im just scared that i will start too big and it will get out of hand very quickly. They are fairly inexpensive here where i live, so i can get one adult for 9 euro cents, how much should i get from nymphs, adults and subadults? I still cant figure it out.. also what do you feed all the time so...
So the idea is one bigger bin for breeding and one smaller for feeders. Feed the feeder bin with gutload food and the breeder bin with whatever i have on hand? And what to do if i have big excess of them, do i just move them and kill them? If so how?
Thanks for answers, both of you!
I thought black is better than silver? Silver is supposed to reflect too much light and make it harder to see out. Also not planning to use fruit flys, mostly dubia roaches and i will most likely cup-feed so they should not get out from the 5x5mm size as well i...
That's the question, i cannot find black mesh at our market here unfortunately. What i did find is outdoor HDPE fencing, it's black, UV resistant and has openings of 5x5mm. Seems like ideal choice? Should be hard enough for bugs to not chew through and small enough for them to not crawl through...
So, my mesh saga continues. I found this one at local supplier for quite a good price. It's aluminum, but a downside is relatively small opening size and a silver color. Could this be used for hybrid chameleon cage where 2 sides and top will be mesh? Thanks!
So if i use live moss of some kind placed for example on part of one wall, to cover soil in pots, cover pots by wrapping the moss around it etc.. would that be ok?
I'm planning out layout for my future cage and using moss came across my mind.. would that work and be suitable for veiled chameleon? Will it cause problems if he nibbles on it for whatever reason? And what type of moss would be best for this, i would like to cover part of wall with it, maybe...
Yes that's what i thought from the picture where they are together. But overall looking at them separately, is this what to look for in young chameleon? Why is the one so dark, is it temporary reason like currently stressed or something deeper?
So, i'm checking out chams from local breeders so i know where to go once i'm ready to buy one in few months. These are the chameleons he's offering right now, and i was wondering whether they look healthy enough? Thanks for opinions beforehand :)
