There are allot of variables, like the light reflector, and the density of screen the UV needs to go through.
But here are the UV levels at the different distances --
as a start
if you want to see it all laid out before you with Arcadia bulbs installed in their ProT5 reflectors. 😁...
Yep.
I do.
Been using UV over reptiles since 1979.😌
I have yet to meet anyone doing it longer!
I am old as dirt, LOL.

It is hard to say without testing it with a solarmeter to know 100% if you are in the UVB "sweet spot" or not.
Yes, you can use tinfoil as a reflector...
By a few methods incorporated into the design... but nothing to do with raising or lowering it.
Wel, you could do that too.
But it would not be needed to tweak the UV.
I have to be a teensy bit vague,
Beman, as you may understand.
We don't need folks ripping of the design.
But it is suffice to...
This is why you may need a 12% or EVEN 14% bulb in a multi bulb \ 4 bulb fixture... always check with solarmeter 😁👍
I figure this will help folks visualize WHY UVB is almost ALWAYS less w/ multi bulb fixtures.

Creating an "Adjustable UV Out-put" Light / Lighting System for the American Market... does anyone think it's a good idea?
For the last year I have toyed with the idea of creating a light / lighting system that the UV is adjustable / or "tune-able" in. Does anyone think this would be...
The 6% may be too week in a quad fixture, the reflective charactaristics may mean you need a 12%. Especially if the light has to penetrate through a fine screen cage top. 👍
Hi Guys,
It has been a while since I had even a spare minute to do a post on Chameleon Forums because I have been so busy.
*Sigh*
I haven't had time to post much anywhere on any reptile forums.
But something has come up lately that I have been getting lots of questions about.
And that is...
About the Blue LED lights.....
The idea is to have them on for about a half hour or hour or so after the main lights are out.
Why?
Because it creates a nice twilight / dusk effect whereby the animals can have the transition into full darkness... like they would get in the wild.
So they can...
For what you are doing,
forget the merc vapor. 1920's technology...
and hasn't changed since then. LOL
It is only good supplemental at best on really large cham cages lit properly by other full spectrum means anyway.
and NO NO merc vapor on leopard gecko.
Study their natural environment and...
These are nice, but then... I am a bit bias since I designed them myself with the help of the Jungle Dawn® crew. ;)

In case you haven't heard,
Bill Strand has done a second interview with reptile expert John Courteney Smith on REPTILE NUTRITION.

SERIOUSLY... if you haven't listened to this already.
Please do your animals a favor and
GIVE THIS A LISTEN.
And welcome to the new MILLENNIUM of Chameleon care.
It IS that revolutionary.
