Does anyone have any recommendations to maybe help her on this shed. Last time I walked away for 30 minutes and she was fully frosted and got it all off in less than an hour. She seems to be having some troubles this time.
I will do that I am so excited to see the new skin she hasn’t frosted yet so maybe she won’t finish today, I’m going to low temp fog her tonight to loosen the skin and let her dry again tomorrow afternoon and hopefully then we will get to see that new bright green skin!
Thank you so much for commenting on her good looks. Thanks to you, @MissSkittles, @elizaann2 and all the other wonderful people who gave us advice on her husbandry have helped our family give Iris the life she deserves. We will be forever members of this forum and we will always keep everyone...
I see the first signs of shedding and I wanted to give all of Iris’s fans an update on my girl Iris since she is starting to become such a celebrity. She is growing up so fast and our bond is growing just as fast as her age. I snapped some beautiful photos of her, she will be shedding soon today...
I see no one has replied yet so I will give the info I can for you and @ some experienced keepers. So most of the stuff you’re doing for her care looks okay and I’m also very sorry your girl is having troubles. I wanted to go over a couple things I see. Your humidity during the day is too dry it...
They’re unfortunately very unforgiving animals. I recommend you to hand feed her for a while and don’t handle her at all until she comes to you this could take months to years to never. If you don’t mind me asking why did she have to go to work with you causing you to handle her against her...
Their brain is naturally programmed to be very solitary animals, hand feed her for a long time that really helps build the trust you want, I wouldn’t ever hold her until she climbs on to you her self. Motivate her with the bugs and make it a game, move the bug to where she has to work to get it...
Looks like such a great company, sadly the competition of the evil underworld of petco and petsmart take out another good reptile store doing it the right way. 😡
I want to start this comment by saying you made the best choice getting him from the wicked pet stores like petsmart. These chameleons might need the most care to become a healthy chameleon but that makes it even more the right choice and I want to personally thank you for doing this and putting...
This is my beardie basking point it almost a foot away from the bulb and still gives off 101 degrees which is really hot. I see you have the ideal bulbs on the way so just to be safe id raise your charms basking branch and use the 60w since that’s closer to what you’ll be using shortly.
I completely agree. I recommend you don’t use that bulb at all it’s WAY too hot. There are two things it could be, it’s a faulty fixture not putting off the wattage it says it does or a bad thermometer. 150w would burn your plants and Cham that’s for reptiles kept in desert conditions my...
The bulb @Beman recommended is the exact same bulb I use. You would want to use this one and raise the basking spot higher if the temps are too low maybe get a taller plant so their is a higher basking spot maybe around 8-10 inches from the bulb.
Here is a diagram of the temps these bulbs give off and most of us wouldn’t use a bulb with that kind of power for a Cham. This is why I assume your thermometer is inaccurate unless the basking bulb is 20 inches away from the basking spot. That’s a little over a foot and a half from the bulb, in...
Maybe 100w basking bulb. I’m wondering if your thermometer is inaccurate. 150w bulb is very intense like recommended for a bearded dragon. If your ambient temps are at or near 72 during the day the basking area should be much higher than 71 with a 60w bulb. 150w bulb is what I use for my beardie...
@Beman says that you shouldn’t use a fogger unless your night fogging from temps between 55-65. Anything higher can cause a respiratory infection he said so that’s why I stopped using my fogger I keep my Cham around 68-72 at night so I don’t fog. @Beman has more experience on this topic maybe he...
