    Is my setup enough?

Is a bulb necessary to supply heat? Could I get a non bulb heater like the nighttime ceramic heaters that can be put in the same place as the bulbs and just use it during the day? Or does the bulb supply something I don’t know of besides heat.

    Is my setup enough?

Below are pictures of the enclosure I plan on using for a male juvenile veiled chameleon I am expecting soon. The plants and cage were cleaned with 1:40 bleach and were steam cleaned. This cage was previously used to house a sick chameleon that may have had diseases and some bad bacteria so I...

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

sorry I keep posting in this thread but given the situation with my previous Cham I think everything needs to be checked more carefully and you people seem to know this. The drainage system I used a while ago for my old chameleons is in the picture, it goes from this into a bucket that is dumped...

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

I’ll look into it, and I’m sorry about not listening before, I was panicked and taking her to a vet wasn’t really an option. I should’ve just cut my losses.

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

According to google: Coccidia do not live for very long outside of the body. They may survive for a week in intact feces, but the parasites will die within a few days on clean surfaces that are exposed to direct sunlight So I will probably just wait a few more weeks and clean the stuff again...

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

Thanks for the response. I’m going to try a few things tomorrow to get the chemicals off and I’ll look into ammonia. But sadly I used all of the supplies I had so I’m probably not going to be able to afford replacing everything. (Just a reminder that my first cage had normal things in it. The...

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

One quick question to anyone who sees this, I’m planning on getting a healthy chameleon within the next week. Unlike the last one I will spend more time looking and will get a healthy one. I’ll post all of the materials I have and see what feedback I get. But before I do I just want to know if...

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

I didn’t really think about the words I used. Everyone understood what I meant and you are the only one that seems to take issue. I didn’t trade her for money and I didn’t want to say given because that makes it sound like I was given little choice. I also didn’t want to say took because people...

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

I was working on lighting and in the end I did bring her to the vet. She didn’t survive the drive though. I was suggested some stuff but I think most of it was a little inapplicable. I do appreciate your response in particular. So thank you.

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

I’m going to wait until a few weeks, it shouldn’t take me too long to get money saved up. On top of that, if you didn’t read, I have had chameleons before that lived good and long lives. I do need some new light bulbs and a linear bulb, but besides that everything should be suitable.

    Chameleon in a dire situation.

I should have looking back, it was a spur of the moment thing knowing that she wouldn’t be there next time, and I’m sure the odds of survival weren’t much better with the vender
