I have had to syringe feed, and it is definitely a challenge. The most important aspect of trust I have with Terry is I never press. I was gentle and I only had that control once I got the right syringe. If you get a syringe like the one at this link you can gently nudge it in beside the lip and...
I would focus on hydration, don’t overwhelm her system trying to make her regular because the antibiotics are really hard on her gut as it is. You don’t want her to get diarrhea or get dehydrated. Beyond what you have to give her I had luck giving mine a hand syringe feed mixing some carnivore...
Wow, your baby is really giving you challenges! I still recommend reptaboost and screen over the cork. Gutload with variety. Alfalfa seems to smell strong enough to grab my chameleons attention when it is being picky. Im interested to see what you do and how it goes.
Try the sunny D bottle and if it works upgrade to a full throttle. In my feeder instead of using a piece of screen for the bug run I just stuck a strip of Velcro up the back. Easy!
Not just hungry without someone there, he may feel stressed with hand feeding. I had a chameleon that didn’t shoot her tongue well, and she was stressed/frustrated with hand feeding. I set up a milk carton bug run (cyberloc will need a more posh looking one for that gorgeous viv) plus some...
Well that solves some of the mystery-
If he is hungry and you aren’t there to hand feed him he may be helping himself.
I’d also suggest setting up some feeder stations/ bug runs so he can get himself food without interacting with you.
It will be way easier if the bugs are stuck in little feeding...
Wow, such a beautiful chameleon and enclosure. My only suggestions would be what about laying screen on the exposed bark.
It’s such a shame though because it’s so beautiful.
There’s a lot of things wrong that others have mentioned. Fix those things but before your chameleon goes too long without food also try getting a syringe and some reptaboost or carnivore care. Stop feeding mealworms and waxworms. Gutload crickets and try bsfl or silkworms.
It seems pretty normal and you are taking the right steps. Just ensure he is hydrated, because it will help him clean his eye. Try some bask time in sunshine and see how the eye behaves. Mine does that more frequently when she is gonna shed.
Hey there.
He is emaciated and he most likely has parasites or something going on internally that a vet can diagnose. He needs a vet, an experienced owner, a corrected setup.
I know you are new to this. When I was new I had a well meaning person give me a chameleon that looked that way. Even if...
As stated by other users your cost estimates are off...
Save for the right equipment and supplies, ( not a kit!!!) then set aside for your first vet visits. Then get a Panther because that’s what you seem to want, and if you are going to cheap out you aren’t ready anyway. Plus panthers are...
The weird curve in the back and his/her behavior is the same as from my chameleon Terry who fell and fractured his spine with a previous owner. Your chameleon is suffering. If he or she doesn’t get vet treatment you can’t hope for a real recovery. He/she is in a state of trauma. He/she needs a vet.
From what I’ve heard Jacksons def aren’t for beginners. How is it that they were in the rain for a couple of days? That bothers me Were you keeping them outside? Are you planning on keeping your next pet inside or outside? Based on that alone I’d say don’t do it. This is coming from someone who...
It’s a feeder cage, he hand built a huge beautiful cage in another post. Maybe this helps his little guy get the food before it escapes. I know there are other ways to feed but when Terry was less mobile I did this for him and it helped him transition from hand feeding to trying independent hunting.
