Interesting. Here's another pic. Obviously people won't normally post a pic of their cham that shows that their not in a pronounced posture. That's why I was asking if people do see similar posture in their chams occasionally as well. This same cham is the one in my profile picture.
Thanks for all your feedback! @jajeanpierre, what do you think of Alby's posture then in this picture? I can take another pic the next time he is like this and get a better angle perhaps if that helps.
Just his posture. Is it normal? It's normal for my cham, but is it any indication of MBD? I realize it's hard to tell. Any feedback is helpful as I'm curious. I'm fairly certain my guy is fine and healthy, but I don't normally see pics of other people's chams in which they are laying like that...
My cham is similar. He pretty much stopped eating crickets and roaches. I have to trick my guy. I do this by offering the roaches first. I put the roach in his enclosure. Then I show him a worm, which is what he prefers... Before he shoots his tongue, I take the worm and go behind the screen...
My boy Alby seems healthy in most ways, but I have worried that he sometimes displays signs of MBD. His posture is normally erect but when he gets "comfy", he'll sort of lay more and look like this.
Any thoughts or comments?
A drop in temperature at night is ideal from what I've heard generally. Ditch the light and heat at night. I think another member mentioned already as long it stays ~60, your cham will benefit from the lower temp at night.
Much better! I'd say add more basking branches. Also, you have one dome light fixture. It's a normal house bulb right? That's good for heat during the day, but chameleons need a UVB light source as well. If your cham climbs on the screen and gets too close to that basking bulb, it could burn...
I'll be sure to have her keep a close eye on him, although she's only spending 30 minutes or an hour every other day to refill mister, humidifie, feed bugs, etc.-
If it spreads, she knows to take more pics and I can share them to see if there is further development.
I'll be sure to bring him...
I'm out of town on vacation with my family, so I'm having my lady friend care for Alby. I'm afraid he's gotten a burn as a result of the light fixtures being the only thing source using the houses energy.
Anyways, just wanted to confirm that this is a burn.
I made sure to tell her to turn on...
Hi, you've used a laminated fish tank background film to keep mist from escaping the enclosure? Have you found that it helps to keep humidity in at all? Maybe my hygrometer is off, but humidity is always lower than it should be it seems like.
Understood. If I don't hear from anybody else that they have used this same or similar species of schefflera/rubber plant with success and without health problems to thei chams, I will stray away from it.
Just curious, what would one do in the event that their cham reacted badly to the sap or...
If you've been using them with no ill effects, I don't see why it would be a problem.
Chase, I have one Panther cham. I've never seen him try to eat a leaf. He used to nibble on branches though.
Thanks for the replies and expertise in the matter!
Hi guys, happy Monday! Just wanted to make sure these plants were safe. I know rubber plants are not safe generally because of the sap it exudes, but I got it with the hopes that I could use it as a free range option for my guy. I got these plants at a buy one get one sale at a local nursery. I...
They are still selling veiled chams at the petsmart near my house... I would think it was smaller than a 5 gallon tank though. So it must just be a local profit motivated decision as brownie pointed out.
I know they have the ability to get panthers and jacksonii in as well (although i've only...
