Thanks for your reply. It actually does matter to me as it is something that I think not a lot of people consider. People allow their chams to climb on their trees and such outside, yet I doubt that the whole tree is cleaned with peroxide or anything like that. If so, it would definitely be over...
Sorry to revisit this but I still have questions regarding the use of old plants that are possibly infested from an old cage set up.
Are not all plants outside infested with other bugs/parasites of some sort? I feel like a lot of people use their outside trees for their chameleons but have a...
I was going to buy a cheap scale at walmart or amazon. Any suggestions? My guy has only been eating a super worm or so every other day or so. I've taken him to a vet, gotten fecals done, and offered different bugs. Should I try and take him to another vet?
I too would be interested in a little more information on those vines. They look sweet, and I seem to have troubles finding branches to saw off in my backyard. Thanks!
Hi guys, definitely wanna try this company out; I have never gotten horn worms before, but while I am waiting for my silkies to grow, I wanted to try these guys out. My question is how hardy are they... could I go the cheapest route with shipping, or pay more and make sure they are alive when I...
I'll try this. It looks like if I want to be certain about keeping the plants safe that I should bake the soil and use this same degree of precaution. I really need to get my butt working and clean plants up as well as branches. My 1.5 yr old needs his larger cage back in working order...
Thank you kindly for the advice. You rehydrate the skin of the chow? I have like a little syringe that I used to use when I got my wisdom teeth out to rehydrate as the old chow was getting to look pretty dry. should I be getting rid of old chow and feeding fresh, moist chow every day? I have no...
In my case then, I probably did not follow the correct Chow to water ratio. I wonder if it's possible to rehydrate the chow with a syringe and water. I have a couple questions in this regard:
1) how wet should the chow be?
2) should I change food out everyday?
3) are these instructions good...
The fecal was done last Thursday. He seemed to like soldier fly larvae, so I'll definitely go ahead and get some more of those as per your suggestion. Thank you kindly lovereps. My cham was in his sleepy spot at like 1 pm today. Got him to eat 1 mealworm in the past 3 days.
Thanks for the advice. Baking soil does seem kind of extreme... I'll definitely rinse the leaves again with some soap to be safe. I'm on the hunt for some more branches now for the new enclosure. I made sure there were no pesticides or fertilizers in the organic soil. Thanks!
You are correct. I got another fecal done after his treatment and according to the vet, Alby is supposedly clear and tested negative for coccidia. Surprisingly though, he is eating even less than before which is very troubling. I am still working and getting his larger cage with new clean plants...
Bake the soil? I've heard of people doing that for branches outside, but never for soil. I suppose putting the soil in a large brownie tray in the oven would work, but i wasn't able to find a thread regarding it when I just searched. hmm
I have been trying to bring my guy outside more often so he can get some real sunlight, but there is something I am worrying about. Is it a problem if the temperature changes too dramatically? It is perhaps 90 or so degrees here in Omaha today, and when my guys back inside, there will be a 20...
I went to lowes today and bought a schefflera and organic potting soil to repot the plant with. I rinsed the leaves off well with water (do I need use soap too?), as well as shook off all the old soil that came with the plant.
I potted the plant in a clean planter with fresh organic soil...
I'll be sure to get tested then. Is 30 or 40 vPlume peroxide the same strength of 60 mixed with 1/2 with water? Thanks for the reply as always. I have no problem with washing
Thoroughly a used plant or 2 over this Labor Day weekend.
Hi guys, I have 2 pothos, 1 schefflera, 1 hibiscus and 1 bromeliad that I used to have in my old cages before I learned that my cham had coccidia. I realize these plants and their soil could have been the cause of the parasites.
Can i repurpose these plants as plants for outdoor/indoor free...
My lighting comes on at 730 and off at 730 but my guy goes to his sleepy spot as early as 3 pm normally (4 hr before lights off). He is active otherwise, but it worries me. He isn't sleeping or anything, but he just sits there waiting for the lights to go out it seems.
haha, good to know about silkies vs. silkworms...
Loosepin: How long did it take for your eggs to turn into worms that size? I am currently trying silks for the first time and just had the first batch of 40 or so hatch out.
