If you use a computer fan I would put it where it sucks the air out, and I would keep it from your heat spot so as not to loose too much heat. just enough to circulate the stale air. I myself use a C-pap machine pumped through holes in a PVC pipe at the bottom of my enclosure to circulate my...
Haven't studied it like the scientist have however in my opinion definitely yes. Don't humans compensate for hearing loss it's all part of adapting for survival.
I use them as a cleaner in my set up. We also call the potato bugs around hear as well as rollie pollies. Interesting fact did you know they aren't actually a bug at all, but a land shrimp. Could be why the moisture is so vital.
Show a pic of his/her back feet so we can see. I also was thinking this is a female showing receptive coloring, and if it is you will need to get that laying ben set up. I also think you should have a reptile vet look at that bump looks like a form of fungus to me, but I'm not a vet.
Your cham will get his UVB just fine in rainfall. I would say as long as the temps don't go way out of the excepted range, and he can thermo regulate properly he should be okay. Chameleons love water. That's my opinion hope it helps.
The scientist who have actually studied this say there hearing is not at all good, in fact they used to say they can't hear at all. I say if this be the case then they must use their other senses to compensate very well because I have yet been able to surprise one even asleep, or failed to not...
I'm a little confused what do you mean by it was a little too much for you what was she wanting to do? If she was wanting to give you antibiotics for his URI them maybe you should take her advise. I think just hoping your cham will get better on his own with a URI is taking an awful huge, and...
Chameleon - Veiled, less than a year old, I've had him around 6 months
Handling - Not very often, he seems to not like it.
Feeding - I feed him Once a day, unknown how many crickets he is eating, if I have meal worms ill feed him them from time to time, but his main diat is crickets...
Yes you have a calcium with D3 that you give him twice a month, multivitamins you give him twice a month alternating with the calcium with D3, and then give him the calcium without D3 at about every other feeding.
Like @Peachypink said he looks fairly healthy, but if I were you I would study the care sheets that another poster linked to make sure you got it all down. The biggest mistake new keepers make is to think they got this covered. I have been at it for over 21 + years, and am still learning...
From what I can see in the pictures he don't look to have MBD. A couple of tips I would give is to get the UVB light, calcium, and calcium with d3 like you mentioned. I would also be careful not to over do the whole handling thing you might be stressing him out which could be causing him not to...
That lump look suspicious to me, but in your other post you said she was back to eating and drinking okay. If I weren't mistaken I would swear that was eggs, and she still looks gravid. Must just be fat (don't tell her I said that).
The reason height is important is do to the fact they are arboreal and have a need to climb up. However that being said I don't think they will perish in a 40 inch tall enclosure, but you have to set a standard somewhere.
He is looking real healthy to me. When you put your hand towards him make sure you are always coming from under him. They will always perceive something large coming over the top of them as a threat. Good luck, and give it time they usually learn to tolerate us eventually.
