Beman for President, I mean staff member

Just wanted to add my 2 cents about where this thread went a few posts ago... The problem with forums and text based social spaces is that the tone of the statement could be taken completely out of context to the point where someone may feel offended or on guard. You don't get the same verbal...

    Need help with drainage!

Washing machine pan from lowes works great. Mine is slightly larger than my cage to catch the over spray from my mister. I drilled a few holes in the pan, set the cage inside with no floor. Set the whole thing on top of a stainless steel bakers rack and put a shelf under the cage for a catch...

Does my veiled cham look ok?

Normal coloration IME. Give him a few more sheds and he will start to get some muddy looking colors before his adult colors start to pop.

    Chameleon mouth open a lot

Just to confirm your temp reading are accurate, what are you using to measure those temps and where in the cage? Noisy breathing is concerning and warrants a vet visit to be safe.

    What lighting

As everyone said, the smaller cage wont last long. I had to upgrade to a 24" x 24" x 48" tall after a few months. More cost effective to go big from the start unless you don't mind dropping the extra cash after a few months. Generally, around the 8-10 month age (possibly younger) is when...

    What lighting

T5HO is the lighting you need for UVB. I would get a fixture that is atleast 24" long to accommodate the recommended adult size cages. What species of chameleon are you looking to get? Generally, a 5.0 or 6% UVB bulb will be good for the common species such as Veileds and Panthers.

    Grumpy yemen chameleon

Worse case scenario, if you are unable to build trust and get your veiled to tolerate handling, leather gloves are life savers. My veiled is highly territorial and defensive so anytime I need to remove him from his enclosure I'll wear gloves to protect my hands from his teeth. I only handle...
