I don't have any colonies or anything like that. I just buy weekly supplies of feeders from my local shop. I don't have room and can't keep any colonies. I just spot these red runners at different places around our apartment.
So I was doing a search for Red Runners and saw this thread. How did the sticky traps work out @Scottsquatch?
I was actually doing the search for red runners because i was looking for a supplier, but i saw @Dave85731 say they are wild out here in cali so then it confirmed that was i've been...
wait, i'm confused... i know there are plenty jacksons in the wild on Oahu, but i didn't think there were veileds. so is there both species on any of the islands?
@ChargeBlocks when i lived on Oahu, i lived on Mt Tantalus and at night when i would be coming home from work i would see guys on...
i saw your post with that link from a different thread as i was doing my search. i read that and was thinking about trying it. ultimately tho, i'd like to have them completely eradicated and prevented from coming back... not just control the numbers.
the list i posted was all the different typse of plants i've had throughout my time with my cham. i got rid of the hibiscus a few months, along with the other plants that was with it. then i did a deep clean of the cage and waited a couple of weeks. then got new plants, which is my current...
fungus gnats problem has been resolved... i changed my soil mix ratio. right now i only see the mealy bugs... fingers crossed!
i'ved used pothos(3 different kinds), hibiscus, dwarf scheflerra, crotons, bromeliads, and rattlesnake plant(Calathea Lancifolia). right now i have a bromeliad...
idk if anyone have seen my previous posts, but over the past year I've had issues with pests in my enclosures. earlier in the spring, it got pretty bad with mealy bugs. it was also around the time I was due to upgrade my cage so I did... and got rid of all my plants and started over. then after...
YES! bugs are definitely a whole 'nother story... i had to get rid of all my plants and get a whole new batch of plants because mealybugs were on the hibiscus and then went on to the rest of the plants. i really wanted to get another hibiscus to give it another try, but i haven't and so far no...
i used a quad fixture with the 12% bulbs and a plant bulb and it still wasn't enough to keep a hibiscus alive... it bloomed like 2 flowers in 3 weeks and started to go down hill right after. i just got a jungle dawn LED spotlight so the combination of the two might be enough, but i haven't...
@Andee thanks for your concern, the fires were nearby but i'm close to disneyland so i'm in the more heavily populated area away from the brush. and they're not stable flies... at least we've never been bitten. i'm definitely interested in getting some from you. what kind do you have? like i...
Unfortunately no pics... no macro lens to get a clear pic. I’m leaning towards fruit flies, but the only reason I can’t give a definitive yes is cuz they look darker from certain angles. I’d like to learn more about cleaner crews, especially pest eating ones who aren’t harmful.:D are you in so...
@jamest0o0 so looking to get some input and your wisdom. Since this problem I had a few months ago, I’ve done a complete refurnishing. I replaced all the plants, changed the bottom of the cage to a completely plastic bare bottom with a drain hole, and scrubbed the entire thing with anti...
If you think that’s crowded, you should see mine! I’m still finishing some renovation because I had to start over with new plants but I’ll post pics this weekend after I finish. I have 2 lush pothos, a rattlesnake plant, and a pot of crotons. And now I’m contemplating getting that coleus...
