I'll go first....
PARSON'S CHAMELEON!!!
These giants have always been a favorite of mine, ever since I saw one on Chameleon Breeder Youtube video with Bill Strand. I know their setup and care and cost is significantly higher than veiled's, but I love the dead-pan, sleepy eyes they give you as...
Hey everyone!
Ok so here's what you need to do. Post a pic of your Favorite Chameleon Species. Not just your favorite pet or favorite one to care for.. I mean the DREAM-ELEON. You know what I'm talking about.... That elusive species that has JUST the right colors, temperament, look, etc.
If...
I would suggest handfeeding. It's an easy way to teach your chameleon that you=feeding time. I'm not sure exactly how you handfeed, but the way that works for me is to start very low in the cage and slowlyyy bring the insect up to the cham. That way he sees it coming and feels safe that he's...
FL chams is a good place to look for Veiled Chameleons. Not sure about local breeders in Michigan. But to quote ERKle...
"DON’T ever order from Backwater Reptiles!"
Hey guys!
Starting to install some Dragon Ledges (finally got them!!!:D) and I'd like to get some nice looking support branches. The goal is to get everything off the floor of my enclosure, so that I can clean the substrate tray easier. My enclosure is an Exo Terra Medium Screen Enclosure...
It's shocking that so many stores know very little about chameleon care. I understand that they are difficult to provide care for on a commercial level, but you would think that by now, with all the horror stories of beginner owners killing animals they knew nothing about, that these stores...
Thanks Josh. I think I'm still getting over the change my veiled has gone through. We got him pretty young, and he was pretty curious and sociable. Then puberty hit him like a truck and he got super cage aggressive!
"Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." :D
Thanks Deca! Don't worry, if the decision is made, it will definitely be mutual! I think I just had all these tiny questions about panthers that I wanted straightened out before pitching the idea.
OH YES! I have heard AWFUL things about Backwater! Never gave any of my business to them, and never plan to. I don't want to risk being the next bad review about them.
What are some breeders you would recommend? I live in FL, so FL Chams are my first choice, but I'm not sure where to go from there. A lot of Mike's panthers are out of stock right now.
Thanks! I guess my follow up would be that, everyone has told me veiled's are easier than panthers. But the more research I do, the more identical the care seems to be {albeit with a few temperature and humidity differences}. Is there a reason some people don't recommend panthers for beginners...
In your opinion, does locale make much of a difference? Are Ambilobes easier than Ambanjas? Or are they pretty much universally the same as far as care goes?
Oh definitely! My strategy is to get all the information first, so that I can have everything ready before she can object. lol it's like convincing my parents all over again.
{WARNING} TOP SECRET! My wife can never know. ;)
I am considering the possibility of getting a panther chameleon in the future. My wife and I love our veiled, Leonard, but I have been seeing some awesome panthers on this forum lately. (Thanks a lot @Decadancin :cautious:)jk
But for all you...
