Hey everyone, so I'm maxed on chams I can have from space limitations so I started building outdoor enclosures with great success and now I have 2 enclosures that are also greenhouses! With Lots of super rare nepenthe's pitcher plants, bromiliades and weird orchids I can find. Already getting...
Hey everyone! Guess what? I have FINALLY noticed many lil babies up in the top bin! Looks like they are scared to or unable to get through the metal screening to get to the safety of the bottom bin. Maybe adding the food in there will attract them? But as for me I consider this success! Woohoo...
Thanks for the advice guys, I'll try adding more hiding places and more moisture sources (above and below) and see if I start seeing some hatch finally.
Here is my set up guys, it's pretty minimalist, but It was what I thought should get the job done a least. Notice the bottom bin does not have a water source but I have been checking for any signs that there are lil larvae in there but I have never seen any! I figured I could put sources in...
Well there is nothing at all in the bottom bin so no, only the wheat oats in the bottom one. So there is a wheat oats substrate in both bins but the top one also has a tray of greens and water crystals in the top bin.
Ok, so I have like 20-30 adult super worm beetles right now, but these guys refuse to lay eggs or something! I have provided a 2 box setup where there is a little grate between the boxes so only little eggs and babies can get down to safety away from their cannibalistic parents. Any guesses why...
Get custom built giant ones from people like me! I live in the SF bay area and do not ship tho btw. So ya. My biggest is 8x7x6 which is like the size of a decent bathroom, low ceiling tho to make sure i can get my chams lol.
SBFL are some of the best composters money can buy, if you look for it there is a whole community build around just these flies (there is even a forum!) Despite all this I was trying REALLY HARD to get a SBF breeding op going and the weirdest thing happened. I got at least 100 to pupate into...
Ok so Breeding Dubia is super easy,
but so should breeding super worms but I have YET to get my Super worm beetles to actually lay eggs that hatch and grow. I think I want to try putting my adult beetles on soil rather than oats because this usually leads to Mite infestations (I have...
Also I find that my Crickets, dubia and super worms will more rapidly eat bug burger, I often see lil clumps of both uneaten at times though for the record! Just my 2 cents
Look at her sister that doesn't have as bad of edema, shes stunning right now.
So glad I thought to just ask yall, I totally was just getting lazy and forgot, then kept dusting all the feeders in the same tub I use for selecting the food to save time.
I think you may be right on the money. I have been mixing heir feeders with my panthers feeders when I dust em so, they end up dusted.. I'll cut that out for a week straight at least and see if that helps, come to think of it I think I already knew this was probably the issue I just kinda forgot...
Just feeding them crickets and dubia mostly right now, stopped the horn worms as they seem to be big enough already lol. Feed the feeders; Kale, carrots, grapes, bell peppers, oranges, cucumbers grape tomato's rarely, Bug burger, and rarely some water crystals but usually they all seem to get...
I haven't seen this before in females, what is this is this a concern or maybe shes just getting fat? She grew up really fast. VERY surprisingly I think she grew to adult size faster than my Gracillior boy is growing. Take a look! Jean Janet hopefully knows.. The bulge is between her legs on her...
Update!
So the girl has been acting very healthy again, eating, drinking more active than before she dropped the eggs even.
I let my chams play around in a 8'lx6'wx7't enclosure so they get more "excersize" than most for at least 2 days of the week. I am convinced she knew they were infertile...
