Great suggestions! I was aware that chameleons poop and there’s not much you can do to prevent it (I’ve kept a variety of pooping pets in my lifetime). I think I’m probably going to go with the tile option, as It seems a lot easier to clean than using newspaper (what I used in my old Cham...
Thanks for the reply. Could you go into more detail about the tile? Did it come installed with your enclosure or did you buy it separately (if so, where do you get/buy it?)
Your method sounds way more efficient than mine lol. Every two weeks I would take out the newspaper and sanitize (with...
I haven’t been very active as I’ve been pretty busy with school. I’ve been researching to get a new reptile for a while to replace my late chameleon, Edgar.
I was just wondering if you guys have any tips for keeping the bottom of a tank totally poop free? I always just put newspaper at the...
He’s gonna look great, I just know it.
I love when young chameleons are just starting to develop their colors. The light/muted colors are just so calming to me.
A bit of an update:
Basically all the plants have died (except for the moss, which is barely holding on).
I did blend up a little bit of moss and buttermilk, and spread the mixture on a rock. It did work to an extent, but the little moss that grew died and and got sorta crusty. A little while...
I added some gravel, and lump charcoal at the bottom and separated the substrate with some of the window screen stuff, though it’s not holding up great at the edges. For the substrate I used organic potting mixed with a little bit of sand to mimic my area’s slightly sandy soil.
Alright! Finished collecting moss and some other native plants for the terrarium. I’m going to wait till the moss settles in before blending it up. How does it look? It’s my first attempt at making a “naturalistic” enclosure
is there anything I can do to prevent mold growth while propagating moss? I know they need to be kept in a moist environment and I am worried about mold growth.
I know i've been inactive for a super long time, with my school starting in the Fall and all. I was just wondering if it would safe to propagate moss from my backyard/nearby forest trail, and how I would do it. I know lots of people are super versed into bioactive things and plants and stuff, so...
After going back and forth about deciding what species and what cage and whatnot to get for a potential chameleon I’ve decided to put a stop to it. I’ve been stressing out about it far too much about it. I’ve just decided to stop researching and not get a chameleon at all. I probably won’t be...
