I also keep a Veiled who is soon going in to a bioactive 5' by 2' enclosure. I use this list for plants

The cage is, for all intents and purposes, done! All that is left is to add paneling to the sides and drainage, the door, then once the lights are here, Clay will be ready to go! I also shot myself in the leg with a staple gun, but it didn't go in far and I'm fine, don't worry :).
I have had a Nepenthes growing under just a JD light that is on 24/7 and it is doing really well. I don't really think you need an HO light, but do know for bigger cages people use huge lights. For example, in my 5' by 2' cage, I have 2 22" arcadia 12 lights, 4 t8 Daylight bulbs, and a 70w...
I agree that GBR are too small for a staple, but they're amazing as a supplement for both the cham and the cham's brain as they fly, have erratic movements, and are bright green of course.
Just use things like apple or butternut squash for water. I would separate different species of feeder as well. The crickets would probably harass/ outcompete the slower dubia. Dubias like to be kept dark and hot.

I finalized plans for the cage back and put in the pond liner in the base (didn't get a picture). Unfortunately, the staples I used for the plywood aren't strong enough so I have to get screws later. The cage will probably be finished by tomorrow, the door put in, lights...
Just work your way up. I fed from an unheld cup for the first month of having my veiled, and I would try at least once a week after he got used to me to at least get him to recognize there was food in my hand, the put it in the cage for him. Eventually, I switched over to feeding tongs. The way...
I am completely done with the framing of the cage, and starting on the plywood and polywall. I also found Clay about to go to sleep with all four feet on the same inch of branch. Love him!

I went ahead and got two 22' arcadia 12% bulbs and a MegaRay for UVB, and I went to home depot and got the rest of the materials for the cage. Unfortunately, the fixture I got wasn't even the right proportions! It was about an inch too long for the bulbs. Now I have to go back...

Today has been a great day! My parents decided they wanted the enclosure done asap just as much as I did, and said they could pay me in advance for everything I needed! So expect some major updates in the next week! Clay doesn't seem to know this though. He got taken outside...

Your chameleon needs 3 components. Heat, UVB, and UVA to thrive in captivity.
UVB promotes healthy growth and strong bone density by allowing your chameleon to produce vit D3, while UVA enhance its appetite, sex drive, and their immune system.
That's just what I've read. That chams and other lizards can see in the in spectrum and without uva from the sun or another source they don't see colors like they are used to. Anyways Reptisun provides uva so you should be good.
