I would not use metal if you know what I mean. Just get a plastic one. I use something similar to a good dish and (this is not very important) put it at the bottom so that my chameleon gets used to climbing all around the cage.

The Reptisun 5.0 is what I use too. It very good. I would recommend for basking a 75 watt basking bulb or a house bulb. Both are good but you should go with the basking light if you have no spare light bulbs. Who wants to drive all the way to Lowes or The Home Depot anyways?
