Yep this sounds pretty normal. My guy is like that too, he likes hanging out in one spot for long periods of time. He even gets angry if you try to move him from his favorite branch! Nothing to worry about, your dude seems fine. :)
Thanks guys, I do feel a little better now. 2 days later and it still looks the same, no discoloration or change in his behavior. I'll still keep an eye on it though.
I've had him for about 6 months now, and I've never noticed this before.
Now that you say that though, I had him in a critter keeper that day, and I may have smashed is tail in the lid while I was closing it once! Now I feel really bad. :( I'll definitely keep an eye on it, but if you guys...
Hey all,
I really hope this is just me being a paranoid first-time cham mom again, but I just noticed this little kink at the end of my boy Jabba's tail.
I just noticed it yesterday, and a friend said it may have happened suddenly, since she had not seen any problems about an hour before...
Thanks guys! I do really hope this isn't a sign of MBD, so I'll just keep an eye on it.
I just replaced his UVB last week, so maybe it had started going bad earlier than expected. His crickets are always gutloaded and I dust them with Calcium every day, so hopefully it's no big deal!
Hey guys!
Hopefully this will be a short thread. I'm just a paranoid first-time chameleon mom, so I don't exactly know what's normal for a growing cham yet.
My guy is 8 months old and seems mostly healthy--he's active, he has insane grip strength, and he eats and poops a LOT! But I just noticed...
Thanks for the help, guys!
The one I'm having problems with is a dracaena, and my old hibiscus died of the same causes. So far my one croton is doing alright, though it has lost quite a few leaves since I got it. Looks like I'll stock up on some pothos next time I get the chance!
Hey chams and chamettes,
I keep a couple live plants in Jabba's enclosure, and rotate them out weekly. However, some of them have slowly died over the course of several weeks due to rotted leaves. My roommate (also my personal Plant Doctor,) told me that leaf rot happens if the leaves are...
Hey guys!
So I know chams should be able to eat fruit flies (I know they sell those wingless ones at my local pet store,) but would there be a problem with my boy eating "wild" fruit flies? It seems some random flies have started a sort of colony in the soil of one of my live plants, and have...
Hey all!
So I made a huge mistake and accidentally left a container of meal worms out of the fridge for too long, and now half of them have formed weird wriggly cocoons! I don't plan on breeding them, so I was wondering if my boy can still eat them in this state. Mealworms are usually his...
Sweet! Thanks for the responses! I feel like I don't have to worry anymore. :)
Yes, I am hand-misting him! I'd love to get an automatic mister, but they're so damn expensive...it's funny actually, because there are days where he'll just stand there and take it, and others where he can't get out...
I've seen a few people on here mention "showering" their chams, either during or outside of their regular misting. Is it necessary to give them a "shower" every once in awhile?
I'm asking because I mist my guy regularly 2-3x/day, but he really doesn't enjoy the water--he's always trying to get...
