I'm using an Exo Terra dial hygrometer in the back of his cage about 6 inches down. No, I'm not 100% it's correct. It's the only thing I've had in there since I set it up. Any recommendations on something they may work better?
It's never been that high. It just misted like 2 mins ago and it's barely at 40% right now. I have 2 large golden pothos and 2 small ones on the floor of his cage right now. The smaller ones I plan to hang. Everything else is fake until the pothos starts to take over.
I have an auto misting system going for 60 sec every hour right now and I'm hand misting some. I can't seem to keep the humidity up though. It's staying around 40% and I'm afraid it's not high enough for his to shed properly.
Ok. Thanks! His basking spot stays around 85-87 then I have a branch under it that stays around 70 and his ambient is about 66 at the bottom of the cage (which he never goes to). I've only had him 6 days and he's finally starting to get used to everything then he starts this so I wasn't sure...
I've notice my baby veiled yawning a lot lately. Do chams yawn? He only does it when he's sitting still, mostly when he's basking. He's just opening is mouth (sometimes leaving it open for a bit) and then kinda stretches afterward. It looks just like he's yawning. Or maybe gagging? Is it...
I do want him to stay in as much as possible to make sure he gets all the lighting he needs. Right now I only take him out to feed him. He doesn't seem to like it too much but I don't want him unhealthy either. I'll try just putting one in and see what happens. Thanks!
That's exactly the way he is. He always wants out. He'll even come to the door when I walk by. I'm extremely happy he's like that but I want to make sure he's under his uv and basking lights as much add he needs to be too. He's just nothing like I was expecting him to be lol.
Thank you. I tried cup feeding inside his cage first and he wasn't having it. He would just run up my arm and perch on my shoulder from the cup. As soon as I sit down with him he goes right back to it and he'll eat a little. He did this yesterday morning and this morning. Last night I offered...
How late is too late to feed him? I know it's best to feed during the first half of the day so he can digest better but he doesn't seem to want to eat much until later in the evening. Two 1/4" is all I could get in him this morning. He ate those then turned around and walked away like he was...
Thank you! I actually live in a basement apartment and it does get pretty chilly at night. With the moonlight bulb the temp is 67 ambient and 74 basking. I turn the misting system off at night now so that helped raise it somewhat. I'm almost afraid it will get too cold if I stop using the...
I was hoping to only use live plants but the only safe ones I could find in my area were pothos. I have one large (but short) one in the back and one in the front. Kinda waiting on them to take over the cage so I can remove the fake stuff. I did however make sure it would take a lot of force to...
That's what I was thinking but 3 is all I could get him to eat earlier today. He did end up eating 5 Phoenix worms a couple hours ago. I wasn't really sure if I should feed him that late in the day but he was trying to eat his plastic plants so I got him out and he ate until he was full and has...
JD (short for Johnny Driskel) is here!! I couldn't be more excited! I ordered him from FLChams yesterday and he was a vibrant green when he arrived this morning. I was a little peeved at my UPS driver because he just threw him on my porch and didn't knock so he was pretty cold when I opened the...
I've got my first ever 2 1/2 month old veiled coming tomorrow morning. He's only been fed 1/4" crickets so far but I'm planning on feeding crickets, dubias, phoenix worms and superworms. I've done my reasearch and I have everything set but I keep finding conflicting info on how much to feed him...
