it really depends if that is your chameleon's only way to hydrate. If it is, then your schedule sounds pretty good, just make sure to remove and pools of water leftover so you don't promote mold growth. If it isn't, then I would cut back to twice a day. I have a fountain that my veiled loves so...
By adult male veiled has just started shedding and I notice he has been a little lazier than usual. Is this normal? I can't remember how he acted the last shed.
hello there. So dark coloration in any chameleon can mean a few things. One as you pointed out, is when a chameleon is gravid. She could be trying to warm herself up, but It looks like you have a perch right under the heat lamp so I doubt that is the case. It could also be a sign of stress or...
I really don't see much wrong. He looks healthy to me! If he was dehydrated his eyes would be sunken in, and if it was MBD you would notice bowing of the legs and other skeletal issues like the casque bending.
I have an adult male veiled who I love more than anything. I enjoy burning incense but I wonder about its effects on a chameleon's respiratory system. I haven't burned a stick yet because I wanted to check first.
Thanks for the advice! So I removed all but one basking lamp and added a UVB bar light that was recommended. I also threw in some extra branches/ vines as well as live plants and Spanish moss. I checked out a few pages to find chameleon safe plants. Is this any better?

So this it. I have 2 uvb lights and three heat lamps, as well as a water dripper. I also mist twice a day with humidity in the moderate to tropical range. Temps are 85 degrees for backing and around 75 for ambient.

So I have a male veiled who is almost an adult. I have noticed that he moves around a lot/ exploring his cage. I have him in a 24x48 enclosure and he has quite a bit of space. I have heard mixed things about this so I was hoping to hear what you guys think.
I noticed the same thing with my veiled when he was younger. What I learned is that chameleons are pretty good at finding comfortable places. If he is cold he would seek warmer spots and if he was too hot he would find cooler places. It really comes down to the ambient and basking temperatures...
So I have a dripper going on in my veiled 24 by 48 enclosure, and I'm wondering how long I should let it drip. I worry about pools of water collecting on the bottom, and the driftwood constantly being wet. I do not have an automatic dripped or any substrate, and hand mist him twice a day.
