Thanks Jann, I'll try that when I go home over lunch. I left one on the screen for him and I'm hoping he's gone when I get home. I'll try putting a smaller one on the branch as you mentioned either way.
Hi everyone,
So I tried silk worms a few months back and Merlin never seemed interested and I ended up giving up on them. He has crickets for his staple and he LOVES blue bottle flies for a snack. Basically he likes faster food I think.
I ordered him a cup of horn worms since it's winter and...
@Spags I'm sure it would work, I'm a project manager for a metal fabrication company so metals are usually my go to since I know their tolerance and how it will behave in elements. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work, just make sure to put some holes through it so the foam can penetrate in...
@Spags I am going to make a thread that goes over everything I did building this (once I'm done, hopefully this week), but to over simplify since you're putting it into a dragon strand I would first get a piece of 1/4" plywood and cut it to the size of the wall you want it on (make sure it's...
Thanks, much appreciated! It did look like you coated the bottom well, I was just trying to be helpful, not harsh. I had a good year of convincing my wife that I could build something that looked good before I could get my guy so I did a lot of reading on here before. haha. And to be honest...
I'm not sure if they are still in business but I remember seeing that the guy for aquazamp was having some health issues a while back. I never heard what happened though.
She look so great, back story aside! Knowing what you all went through to get her here is all the more impressive! Well done and thank you from me, her, and I'm sure everyone else on here for helping a little girl in need!
I think if you replace the wood floor that has been penetrated by water and replace it with new wood (you'll be better off with plywood than particleboard too even if it's not as thick, it will hold weight much better over time) then use a plastic sheet it will be the best cost effective plan...
I think it's more about not having them all over where you put your face for 8 hours a night as far as keeping them off your pillow. I think any egg laying animal can carry salmonella, but I'm not positive on that.
All in all I think you're pretty safe being conscious of it as you are, just not...
I agree, the water won't be an issue for you as long as your mister isn't hitting it directly and saturating it. When I spoke with Todd with Light Your Reptiles as to the differences in fixtures he explained a few things that stood out to me. The first is that having/not having the reflective...
I order blue bottle fly pupae from a site sponsor and put them in the fridge so it slows down how fast they come out of their shell/cocoon. My Merlin LOVES flies though and they are a fun treat that he enjoys chasing around and I enjoy watching him do so too.
Did the left different than the back. I put silicone down, then sprinkled the wood chips, then the coco fiber after versus having the two mixed together. I think it looks better than the back wall.
I'm not sure what's causing his behavior, but I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. I don't think its too outlandish to think that her being removed could have had an impact on him though. Regardless, I hope you and you little green guy get through this well.
I'm converting an armoire to an enclosure and have some pictures in my albums if you want to look. Like Lathis said, since you're building it you can build a drain in, which is what I did. I also built a sloped floor so the water will be forced back towards the drain versus coming out of the...
As far as how much he should eat, my breeder gave me a helpful hint. He said that as they grow just shoot for about 125% of the volume of their head if that makes sense. So if 10 crickets piled up would be the same size as his head, feed 12-13 basically. I think it's an easier way to measure...
