I actually plan on flipping the rack so the circle part is on the screen (to spread out the weight on the screen). And bend the three legs inwards to let the lamp housing sit on it. Improvisation lol
I checked and the temp of the branch right under it is about 84 degrees.
Is there a simple solution to getting the lamp up a few inches? I don't have a hanger for it and I'd rather not but a stand.
It's a 75w incandescent. The highest point of the branch is about 6" from the screen. Normally (like right now) he is more laying across the branch/flatter. I think in that picture he was standing up because he saw me and is still trying to figure out if he can trust me or be ready to run from...
I am. I just wanted to give him a few days. I put two dubias in the shooting gallery this morning and walked in at the right time to see him strike and eat one. I'll plan on adding two everyday, unless he eats them quick then bump it up to three etc.
Slightly off topic: what is a good feeder...
Another timing question: how long does it take them to fully develop the color scheme they will have throughout their life (relatively speaking, as I know colors do change depending on mood/time of day)?
His sire was extremely orange. So far he has a very light green/yellow hue. So much so that...
Temps 1ft below the top screen, underneath the UV bulb area are about 74degrees and humidity in the same spot (as of this moment) is 66%.
I'm misting 3mins at lights on and lights off, then one minute in the middle of the day.
Well he's moving around his cage more. But he absolutely doesn't like when I am in the room. Came home today and he was basking...as soon as he saw me he went to the lower areas and hid.
I have so far placed three small dubias in the Shooting Gallery between yesterday and today and all three...
Oh the joy once he realizes I am his food source lol
At least with bioactive I no longer will get the "yes peasant" looks as I clean up poop like my previous Panther
No isopods added yet (in the mail). I'm leaving him be as advised. Everything he needs is there (lights, coverage, water, heat) so he'll figure it all out. Just didn't want him doing anything weird with the soil and getting an impaction or anything.
Arrived earlier today from FL Chams.
He's been exploring, though for some reason he has been walking only on the bottom of the cage (on the soil) for the last two hours. He allowed me to take him out but even after placing him up high he still went to the very bottom.
Is that OK?
I can't see it in the pic, is it attached to the top of the screen in the center? Or wrapped around a vine/branch?
I also can't see the Cham...where's waldo? lol
I have my lights coming on at 830am and off at 8pm. I'll switch my morning misting to 8am and my evening misting to 8pm. And make the afternoon misting 30seconds at 2pm.
I have a Zoo Med digital thermometer/hydrometer coming tomorrow to add. Where is the best spot to place the probe in the cage?
So my new bioactive setup is complete (well, almost, waiting on the CUC to arrive) and is ready to receive my veiled when he arrives today. The setup is 1" of clay rock, window screen and weed screen, then 5-6" of "homemade" soil consisting of Eco Earth, sponge moss, reptibark, and sand. I have...
Ok. Here it is. Version 3:
My greenhouse had a GIANT schefflera tree/bush so I brought it home and took the two smallest stems from it. I'm pretty sure you can see how much they fill up the back and screen side.
As said, I also have a grow light coming to help with everything.
Think my veiled...
Awesome, I will pick one up on my way home tomorrow. The chameleon won't ship til tomorrow so I have another day to get it setup.
If I get a dual T5 lamp (just have the single right now), what is a good plant bulb to add in with the Arcadia I am using for UVB?
Forgive my ignorance, but aren't the Arcadia bulbs decent for plant growth as well since they provide UVA along with UVB? And if I did plant it in that back corner, it would be right next to the window for some natural sunlight in the morning and afternoon.
