    Dubia breeding question

Thanks. I plan on making a schedule that is consistent with the amount of breeding and growth once the colony stabilizes. Most likely going to do one week of roaches, one week of crickets, one week of worms, and one week of all three mixed in so I can use the small ones for the week of mixed...

    Dubia breeding question

Thanks. I will buy a some adults to jump start breeding. I just make sure the adults stay alive/don't feed them and I should have a nice continuous supply going?

    Dubia breeding question

I've finally decided to setup and breed a dubia colony for my new cham and my three leopard geckos. I ordered 100 medium sized dubias from LLLReptile (1/2" to 3/8" in size) which all arrived alive today. They are set up with egg crates, food, water crystals, and a small UTH pad on the outside...

Picture of new setup for Panther, appreciate input

Thanks! I will add a fake leaf vine strand from Petsmart to the top half to help fill in some more while the Pothos plants grow. Regarding the bottom, is there a good 12-18" tall Plant species that would do good near the bottom with less light (I can make sure the runoff water from one of the...

Picture of new setup for Panther, appreciate input

Hey all, Here is a picture of my 18x18x36 Reptibreeze (I know, I will be upgrading to a 24x24x48 in a few months when I get more space) for a very young male Panther (should be getting him within the next week or two). The lighting is an Exo Terra 5.0 UVB, 2.0 UVB, and 50w Halogen, running...

Are UVB 5.0 bulbs enough for Pothos plants?

From Googling, it seems the Exo Terra 2.0 Repti Glo bulbs work great for plant growth...at least according to a long thread on a frog forum where many of their vivariums have multiple plant species. http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/linear_fluorescent_bulbs.php Any concerns? They are 6700k...

Are UVB 5.0 bulbs enough for Pothos plants?

So, doing a Google search, I cannot find plant/grow bulbs that are 15" in length. It seems the only mainstream size that small is 18". Crud

Are UVB 5.0 bulbs enough for Pothos plants?

Thanks! I'm picking up the Pothos plants this weekend so I'll just get a grow bulb while I'm out and keep the second UVB bulb around as a spare/replacement.

Are UVB 5.0 bulbs enough for Pothos plants?

So I should replace one of the UVB bulbs with a dedicated grow bulb for the plants?

Are UVB 5.0 bulbs enough for Pothos plants?

Hey all, Finishing up my new and improved enclosure for a future Panther that will include two Pothos plants. The lighting hood is an Exo Terra with dual 15" T8 fluorescent bulbs and a Halogen light for heat. I am using two brand new Exo Terra 5.0 UVB bulbs and a 50w Halogen light (about 86...

Veiled Chameleon passed so getting a Panther, is this setup OK?

Any opinions on the lighting setup I listed: Exo Terra hood with dual UVB 5.0 bulbs (also Exo Terra) and a 50 watt halogen bulb for basking? Would this also be sufficient to grown pothos plants without any extra lighting?

Veiled Chameleon passed so getting a Panther, is this setup OK?

OK. I will use my thinking cap to find more room for a bigger enclosure.

Veiled Chameleon passed so getting a Panther, is this setup OK?

Aww, those are cute chameleons! The only issue is, from what I read doing a Google search, they seem more prone to becoming stressed from handling due to their smaller size. While we didn't make it a daily habit to take out Horatio, we did enjoy every now and then bringing him out to free roam...

Autopsy results on Horatio (veiled chameleon)

We are actually preparing for a Panther if possible. Just a matter of when it feels right and if the member near me who runs a rescue might happen to have the right panther for us.

Autopsy results on Horatio (veiled chameleon)

Sorry, I forgot to add that I did feed Calcium without D3 every time I gave crickets via dusting.

Autopsy results on Horatio (veiled chameleon)

I fed him crickets only and thought I was gut loading them by using the Flukers Orange Cubes but learned last week I was not. Going forward I am going to be using actual cricket gut load food and plain old water to keep the crickets hydrated for my next cham. Vitamins were given in the form of...

Autopsy results on Horatio (veiled chameleon)

Hey all, The vet just called me and said my veiled chameleon, Horatio, passed away from kidney failure. Since Horatio had no issues drinking/keeping hydrated for the months leading up to his sudden sickness, the vet thinks he may have had an inherent issue with his kidneys since birth or...

Veiled Chameleon passed so getting a Panther, is this setup OK?

Whats a good place to look at screen cages of "custom sizes" or building one? Because I can do up to 48" high in the current spot I have and make it 24" wide as well (depth can't change though so 18" is best I can do until moving).

Veiled Chameleon passed so getting a Panther, is this setup OK?

I suppose if I am misting and have a UVB bulb already...adding live plants isn't any more upkeep/care anyways, right? I really want to make this happen but it seems the limiting factor is cage size until I move out in 10 months. And I know her and I can't wait that long to fill the empty spot...

Veiled Chameleon passed so getting a Panther, is this setup OK?

Misting for longer times is no issue at all, I can easily change the duration and frequency. Regarding cage size...we want to get a male and at the smallest/earliest we are allowed. I do not have room for a bigger cage yet but we will be moving into a new apartment sometime at the end of Summer...
