Yea I was thinking of starting from scratch. I can get rolls of aluminum screen in 4'×8' lengths for dirt cheap and have access to lots of wood and other building material. I was thinking of using the screen I mentioned and some vinyl 3/4" ×12"× 20' it's a fairly new material that has come out...
So I've got this idea for a screened enclosure I can custom fit and mount in my window, kind of like a window mounted air conditioner. Just an idea for now. I searched for something like it and couldn't find it. Think I might try to throw one . Wondering what people thought?
Sometimes I find urate with no poop atached to it. I assumed it was normal but I'm just a beginner myself so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will comment. How long have you had him. Can you take a pic of the entire enclosure?
Unsure about the other issues but raise the light until it is far enough where he can't burn himself. Make sure it's still close enough for basking. Do you have a thermometer of any kind?
Ive tried this with 2ltr. Bottle and a milk jug. She seems intimidated by the bigger ones I make and uninterested in smaller ones. She climb on the smaller ones toget from a to b but never use them to eat. O well she eats good never the less I'll keep trying. Thanks guys
Hey guys and gals. I have a female veiled chameleon named Blanche. I have been free ranging her in my sun room which she enjoys a lot more than she does her enclosure. She eats VERY good but only by hand feeding or hunting. Now obviously the feeders tend to jump off the plants so when I do this...
While she eats you can drop water in her mouth with a dripper while she's chewing if you can't get her to drink normally. I tried this not because mine wouldn't drink but for a day or two her urates where more yellowish I also increased my misting which corrected the problem. My female didn't...
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not really going to purchase forsure but rather to look around I'm going to be in the same area around the time. But might get a male veiled, still thinking on it. I do research, I was just thinking we could lay out some basic/advanced questions that perhaps some...
Ive read mixed reviews on getting animals from these events. I'm attending one in June. I though it would be helpful to start a thread about questions beginners could ask the breeders and sales men/women to better determine if the breeder genuinely cares about the chameleons rather than just...
I free range her in my sun room. The room itself is 8'×15', her climbing space has about 5'×3' long and wide and 5'tall. She has screen windows to get real sun. She loves her room
Yea, I wasnt trying to be a smartbutt hope it didn't come across as so, at least double what you have in there. Live plants are the way to go. A pothos is Blanche's favorite sleeping and drinking spot her magnolia and dogwood for basking and her hibiscus and cardinal dogwood for roaming and...
More climbing space for your little buddy his favorite activity is climbing after all. The more the better, you can find inexpensive timers at Lowe's or even walmart.
Yea I think those temps would be ok for nighttime. I've read as long as its above 40°f but that is extreme at that low obviously it wouldn't be that cold in your house. Do you know your nighttime temps with the heatlight?
By the way I'm a new chameleon owner to and by no means an expert. I forgot to mention my veiled Blanche does the double step thing I think that's pretty normal I've seen lots of videos of other chams doing it I may be wrong though.
Congratulations on your new freind! Is the light sitting directly on the screen? I started mine off like that but noticed the screen got to hot so be aware of that yours might be ok. Also I've read chams are very sensitive to lights thatwe are notI'm not sure if that night light is necessary it...
