    Let's see your biggest chams

My biggest one is Guinevere (on the left), who maxed out earlier this year at 490 grams. You can see how much bigger she is that my other adult female.

    Photos of Hybrid Chameleons

It's when something (like tissue or an organ) is not where it is supposed to be in the body, literally "to fall out of place." So when someone says their chameleon has an intestinal prolapse it means that part of their colon has come out the vent. And in the case of a hemipenal prolapse, for...

Learn something new every day! lol :D As of right now there is no genetic test available. Thank you! He had an intestinal prolapse in October and although surgery went great he died 2 weeks later.

    Photos of Hybrid Chameleons

Crosses can definitely look like pures! The fun thing about genetics is that babies can turn out like parent A, parent B, or any mix therein. That's also one of their bad points, because you could sell a panther as, say, a pure Ambilobe for more money and then when that person goes to breed him...

    Photos of Hybrid Chameleons

Most people I think call them crosses, sometimes morphs, and sometimes hybrids. "Hybrid" does imply that it's a mix of two species, which in this case it isn't, so I personally like "cross." But I think everyone in the community pretty much understands what you say when you say you have a...

This is Daedalus, a panther I lost this past Fall. He was my favorite, an Ambanja x Faly mix, 3 years old.

    help with superworms

Superworms aren't like mealworms, they will not turn into beetles unless each individual worm is isolated from the others, so if you have them all in a bin they will remain worms for months, until they either die or are fed off. I buy superworms in lots of 500 and they will last me about 3-4...

    Heat inducing melleri breeding?

When I asked Jurgen about those baby melleri he posted photos of he asked the breeder and said that gestation had lasted 3 months and incubation only 4, so that's in line with that Ian is saying. Fingers crossed for fertile clutches from both you and Deb!

    Dog food for crickets

Sure, a little now and then isn't going to harm them. They might eat a gecko here, a small bird there, etc. But we don't want to give them crickets/roaches that are all gut-loaded with high amounts of animal protein every day for weeks or months. And cat food is even worse because it's even...

For those of you who ship...?

I like to require a signature as well if it's going to someone's front door and depending on the weather (if it's really hot or really cold) I do the hold for pick-up at the Fedex hub as well.

Baby Veiled Not Eating- Becoming Skinny

She's soo small that I wouldn't feel comfortable force feeding her. It's a delicate thing to do, and being so small if you don't have experience force feeding this might be too risky. I would separate her into a much smaller cage and see if being alone and having an easier time finding food...

    horn worms

Ditto what Kiwiflage said. Tomato leaves are poisonous so hornworms that feed on tomatoes should be avoided. You can, however, take a few inside and attempt to breed them, if you wanted to. You would have to wait for these worms to turn into moths but any babies those moths produce would be...

    Who can speak another language?

I'm Spanish-Italian, so I am fluent in Spanish and I have a decent grasp on Italian. I don't speak the latter at home so I get rusty until I go back and spend a couple days with family, then it comes back to me more fluently. And then English, obviously!
