Looks like a good start so far but here are a couple of things to consider:
-I can't tell but it looks like you just have the one double bulb fixture on top... If that's the case I'd keep it for the heat/basking bulbs but I'd definitely get a tube style UV light to go across the top. I'm...
Wow that's a great looking group of young ladies you have there. I'm with Laurie though, the first one is my favorite. I love the soft orange and all of the white. Congrats on the new additions :)
It was definitely a surprise for me too when my wife was telling me about it and then I saw the video of the poor guy... I didn't even know chameleons could get the hiccups.
chefboyardee - He's never made that sound before and we've had him for almost a year now (since he was a...
I'm going to try to go but I'm not sure about what day yet... I'd definitely like to get an e-mail list for monthly meetings goinig. We've been trying to get another meeting going ever since the last one at CNorton's and the reptile show would be the perfect place to try and get things going again.
So today, while I was at work, my wife heard our Nosy Be Poseidon making some funny noises while she was feeding everyone. We could be wrong but she swears he's hiccuping and it kinda looks like it to me too lol. By the time she grabbed her phone to get it on video she missed all but the last...
That's a sweet looking enclosure!
I haven't had any issues with the styrofoam breaking off at all. The way I do it (which I learned from YouTube) is to carve and contour the styrofoam however you like it and then coat that with the caulking. The caulking makes a rubbery barrier so there...
Thanks for the replies so far. Her colors definitely look receptive to me but for some reason I thought they wouldn't show themselves as being receptive without carrying eggs at the time... I tried to feel for any eggs she may or may not be carrying this morning but couldn't feel anything yet...
I think it was Petsmart or Petco... It's a dog kennel liner that just happened to be the perfect size for my custom cage (24" x 36") and was only around $10.
I make mine out of styrafoam, caulking, stone textured spray paint, and acrylic sealer. Or with a plywood backing and rubbermaid food containers molded in if I want to include planters built in to them like this:
Here are a couple of my build threads in case you want to see how I built...
Hi Everyone,
My wife and I got our first female cham, Aphrodite, back in April. She's a beautiful little ambilobe from Komeleon's Noki and she'll be six months old next week. The problem, well more like a concern, is that it looks like she's gravid already. I thought that this couldn't happen...
Have you tried taking the door off the hinges? The doorway to our office is 30" so I built my cage a little smaller than that but got stuck on the door as we went to roll it in. A flat tip screw driver and a hammer got the hinge pins out and then we were able to roll it on in...
ItsJusTMe: Your cage looks really good. Only thing I'd suggest is to add some more vines/branches for horizontal pathways towards the top. I noticed with my chams that they like to be up high and would climb the screen sides until I filled in the cage with more pathways up where they wanted to...
