Eggs changing color and now wet

I recently had this happen with some of my furcifer verrucosus eggs. They were 8 months old, 1 had already successfully hatched- so I thought 3 more were getting ready to hatch when they were wet, shrinking and turning yellow. Turns out they were bad. Either the embryo died inside a while back...

    Furcifer antimena breeding

I’m glad someone is breeding these guys. I think their care is similar to that of verrucosus and oustaleti. I’ve seen WC individuals selling for $150. I think recently on reptile pets direct? I’ve also seen them on UG reptiles around the same price.

Hi everyone! I have too many chams! Here is a healthy 1 year old ambanja x ambilobe cross. Hatched him myself. He is free to a good home- but must show proof of proper setup, and basic knowledge of panther chameleons. Rehoming simply to make room. I currently have 13 chams, and could use the...

Wild chameleon in fort myers Swfl area

Labelle is a good area to find them. Have been there several times. As for the “adapt or die” thought- I actually think Florida has proven to be a very comfortable habitat for veileds. In Yemen they often die within their first year of life. Although it is not their native habitat. So you may...

Anyone with experience breeding black crickets? Gryllus bimaculatus?

Recently rainbow mealworms has been offering black field crickets- I believe them to be Gryllus bimaculatus. I’ve attempted twice now to get a colony going. Started with adults in a clean never before used bin. Feeding leafy greens, potatoes, etc. temps upper 80s-90s. Adults do great, breed...

Why are some species not readily available in the hobby?

Great reply. Thank you. You make some good points. It’s one of the reasons my brother and I are attempting to establish a small captive breeding population of oustaleti. Hardly anyone ever seems to breed them in captivity. It seems like almost all the available oustaleti that pop up from time to...

Why are some species not readily available in the hobby?

Specifically wondering about Arabian chameleons and Indian Chameleons (Chameleo arabicus, Chameleo zaynalicus). I’m surprised they aren’t seen in the hobby. Arabian chameleons are quite beautiful, similar to veileds but with a more distinctive patterning. I’m guessing care would be similar...

    Anyone working with F. Oustaleti?

I believe the feral population has been extirpated. My brother runs a wildlife rescue organization in Florida and I visit him once or twice a year- we routinely go out looking for wildlife, including chameleons. the last time anyone we know of that found any wild oustalets at the avocado grove...

    Anyone working with F. Oustaleti?

I have actually been to the location near the Everglades. 3 years in a row, and we have not found anything. Pretty sure the population has been extirpated.

    Anyone working with F. Oustaleti?

Just saw this post. I am currently attempting to breed oustaleti. I have a youngish ( guessing 8-10 month old) WC male, and a 1-2 year old WC female. I keep them outside here in Southern California. Daytime temps are in the 90s some days. Nights are in the upper 60s. I have not seen them mate...

Newly arrived chameleon with weird burns or bruises.

Just wanted to update my oustalets status. I had a biopsy done. Came back negative for CANV/yellow fungus- which seemed like good news. However, her overall health seemed to decline after her biopsy. Her abdominal cavity became swollen, made a new appointment to get her looked at- sadly she...
